I know Sawyer has great nicknames but Damnit Ben is the best one liners in the business.
I hope this isn’t the end for ole Ben but I am interested to know more of him on the Good vs Evil scale.
I honestly believe his character is more like Corporate America do what you can to get ahead and continue to do even after you reach the top to stay there. If you get caught lie, lie, and then deny, deny until the video tape, pictures, phone calls, text messages, fingerprints, and waitresses point there finger at you then go to rehab smile and say your sorry………. was that a rant?
Sorry to double post but someone has a lot of time on their hands. Check out this website that has a breakdown of the numbers in it.

LOL Richard7769- To add the the list of those things that could expose you, you need mistresses, prostitutes, and high end call girls!!!!
Now, about the video clips. It is interesting that Ben was teaching about an island (Elba) and talking about power and a loss of it. Isn’t that what happened to him when Locke came to the island??
Also, I don’t want Ben to die. It is too early in the season.
t LOVE BEN!!!!!
HE IS GOOD!
I SAID BEFORE AND STILL STAND BY IT!
TL – NEVER exposed just revield.
Napolean is a good referance for Ben. What other historic figures could we associate with our beloved Losties?
I would say Sawyer maybe Billy the kid. Always looking over his shoulder.
he does seem to be good. im hoping he still has a trick up his sleeve. He clearly knew who dogan was because he used his name right after getting out of the temple and meeting up with the rest of the group.

If these writers F**K this show up I will be so pissed. I hope not but I feel like we might be disappointed at the end. I do think the writers are trying to be to smart for their own good. I also hate that they said they will not explain anything after the show and they will let it stand on it’s own merit. That’s total bullshit. I’m so annoyed at this article.
Richard7769-Napoleon for Ben– great call (lol)!!!! I’d have to think about who else could be a match for a historical figure.
Adam…., interesting article and i have to say i am 100% with you!!!!! Damon and Carlton are talking totally bullhshit about not answering questions they don´t have any time for left. oh f**k what did you guys do the last five seasons/ five years? They had more than enough time to give us alwayas at least pieces of answers for nearly all the mysterious questions these writters thrown out in the show! What annoyis me most is that in EVERY episode since the beginning of Lost they gave us always new mysterious questions and ansewered just a few things if anything.
I would kick damon % carltons ass if the end will be ruined! I am so long such a big lost fan (although friends say i am crazy) and i spent soooo much time for watching and thinking about it, so if the end isn´t gonna be unbelievable/incredible or just sheer insanity (that´s exactly what i am expecting after being so long a loyal supporter) then i will regret the biggest mistake in my whole life, yeah right six lost years…..hopefully not!!
P l e a s e CARLTON % DAMON, don´t dare to screw this up!!
and hey, i don´t wanna be negative here, just my opinion..
One of the biggest riddles made in the show and still there’s not a tiny indication that it will be solved is: how did Locke’s father come into the island ?
I will be really mad if this question is not answered.
Adam and C.P.L– I feel your pain. If the writers were running out of time, why not make 24 episodes like they did in seasons 1 and 2 instead of a lousy 16.
I feel like we are going to get robbed and that would suck. C.P.L., you could not have said it better! I am still laughing.
Acer_7- As for your question, my response is how do we know that was really Locke’s father. It could have been smokey impersonating him as part of MIB’s or Jacob’s plan. As a matter of fact, anyone could be an impersonation by smokey. Even Vincent!!!!
it’s like they don’t recognize the show is very intricate and difficult to follow. or at least they do not understand how complex of a show they have made.
WE DONT KNOW WHAT THE SHOW IS ABOUT AND ITS THE FINAL SEASON!!!
I feel like they are just going down a road almost no fan will like and by saying now that you are walking away after and not answering questions is bullshit.. you have been tweeting about this show and doing podcasts and webcasts for 3 years every 3 minutes and now at the end ur going to shut up??
i dont lke their attitudes about it.
acer-7 (re: post 10)
That is one of many questions that I don’t think will ever be answered. This lead me to think of a few more. Everyone feel free to add your own questions you don’t think they will answer.
All things Walt…
Who was Henry Gale, and why was he brought to the island? (because I think we’ve seen that no one’s arrival is purley happenstance)
Why was it necessary to show Libby in the Nut House if they were never going to build upon it?
How was there a food drop if the island is so fucking hard to find?
The Hurley bird (not a big deal but, WTF?)
These are just a few off the top of my head, I’m sure you guys can think of more.
KB (or is it kbrulz???? WTF??)lol. Anyway, some of the things that I don’t think will be answered are:
1. Why can’t patchy die. He was toasted in the sonic fence and Desmond shot him with a spear gun. No lasting effects. Maybe the water on the island made him immortal.
2. How was the statute destroyed and did this have anything to do with why pregnant women died.
3. What is the flying donkey wheel and how does it “move” the island.
4. What happened to Magnus Hanso and Alvar Hanso.
I can probably add another 500 things, but I think these things will remain unanswered.
Hey all – so many questions!
One that I’d like answered relates to Miles. In his introductory episode (series 4?) there are different pictures/frames on the wall from when he goes upstairs to do his ‘ghostbusting’ to when he goes downtairs. It was definately shown intentionally, so what was with that? Perhaps a subtle suggestion to the ‘alternate reality’ they’re showing in this series?
Oh god, don’t start me on this, it’s too negative!
Oh alright:
How the statue got destroyed.
What’s in the Black Rock log.
What happened to the girl young Ben was friends with (a really great potential storyline for the character they never dealt with – he obviously liked her) and young Ben’s life generally.
Whether Faraday exists.
WTF Sayid’s old commanding officer was doing in the hatch.
Why the sky turned purple.
Anything to do with Eko (the actor had tragedy to deal with, got written out and hasn’t been seen in anything since)
Anything to do with Libby.
Why is Walt suddenly so tall.
Anything to do with polar bears, sharks, tree frogs or Hurley birds
What will happen to Special Agent Cooper now he’s been possessed by Bob.
(apologies for that last one)
Hi,
I agree that we are probably heading for a loop kind of finale. But I think we may find that each time things loop around the characters don’t know they are looping but have some kind of subliminal recollection of certain connections and they may be able to make certain different decisions/changes/improvements each time they loop through. Progress you might say; but progress towards what I am not sure.
If anyone has read Stephen King’s Dark Tower series you might get what I mean. After 7 epic volumes the reader discovers that the central character climbs through a hatch at the top of the tower and is then in exactly the same place as he was at the beginning of book 1.
SO YEAH, I BEGIN TO FAVOUR THE THEORY THAT WE WILL FIND 2 OF OUR CHARACTERS SAT ON A BEACH WATCHING SOME BOAT OR PLANE APPROACHING THE ISLAND. WHICH TWO CHARACTERS I REALLY DON’T KNOW YET. ALSO NO CLUE YET ABOUT WHO THE ADAM AND EVE SKELETONS ARE!
wow there are so many questions, and good ones too. Those are def some of the good ones. I really am interested in Walt and his whole storyline. I’m not all that interested in Libby however. From the article I posted I def think we are in for a lot of un-answered things. Unfortunately what Damon and Carlton consider insignificant and questions that don’t need to be answered as fans we find very interesting. I think throughout the series they’ve had trouble recognizing what fans want. They’ve developed certain things for multiple seasons so to not get a payoff at the end will be disappointing. I’m a fan until the end but I don’t like what they had to say in that article.
yeah right, so many questions….
Do somebody know what significance the “basball” has?? I remember it´s not the first time we saw the ball!??!
What about the upcoming episode “Dr. Linus”? What do you guys are thinking what we will get to see or what it is about??
I saw in one of the new trailers Ben´s repeated judgement from Flocke the smoke monster, it seemed that their second meeting could mean Ben´s death, althought Ben was; i have to say that now honestly – a good person in last episodes, but on the other site we didn´t get much to see about Ben´s story, neither island time or alternate timeline!! And as we know Ben, is has always a plan…”(his is the man with the plan”)
Something what pisses me off is MiB´s real name. Always when people talking about him or even directly to him, NO one NEVER says his name (i.e. “my friend” -stupid claire, i don´t lke her new character!) Even when somebody is calling Flocke no one tells although a lot of people on the island know MiB´s real name!!
And that´s again the typicall Lost story telling. The writters or whoever are making always new very interesting mysterious, but what they are not thinking is to answer from time to time these new thrown out question, but no, what are they doing -they´re forgetting it-! Really bullshit attitude to the fans from the producers..
C.P.L. Not knowing MIB’s name is going to be the thing that shocks us right off the couch and make us cough-up the beer we are drinking during the show!!!!! That is truly going to be a “WTF” moment!!!
That one I am willing to wait for!!!!
TL… i know MiB´s name will shock the hell out of us…, it think!? But however i wanna know cause were going to the end of the LAST season and so the writters should think about that…, right!?
Okay here’s something out of the blue I’m watching Bachelor Party last night (slow night) and the guy that hooks up with the tranvestite looks like the Dogan’s interpretour. Crazy right.
Okay seriously I hope they answer Adam and Eve. I hope we find out how the candidates were chosen. How the plane arrived but most of all why the island donkey wheel makes it move.
C.P.L. Sadly, I don’t think we will know MIB’s true identity until the last hour of the show. Damn writers . . .
Richard7769- Thanks for the bachelor party flashback. That hotel party was one of the best movie parties ever!!!
Hi, one thing:
… it seems that Jacob new what whould happen when he asked Herly to bring Said to the Temple – I mean that it was his plan (for what reason – I dont know) to destroy Temple, to have Dogan and others be killed and to have MiB to think that hi is a winner for a while…
Total….(POST 14)
You forgot the ….”HURLEY BIRD!!!!”… LOL
OK…OK…
I really have quite a bit to say… I have been watchin season 5 again…. I know… I know…. I have NO LIFE!!! But I have discovered some amazing things… Things I spotted before but now seem clear…..well…..maybe not clear but just seem to be more significan now…
OBSERVATION #1: Ms. Hawkins told all the Lostie returnies that the island is constantly moving…. ok ok… in the sliding time we see it underwater…(this could be just temperary…and the Losties in the sliding time will return it to surface some how….)
OBSERVATION #2: Cesar when looking through paperwork in office finds a paper with equations and lined map equation like diagnosis formulas…You have to pause it to see this the move very slow frame by frame to catch it… Eitherway.. the paper shows a grid of three types of lines or better yet threads of time…. “Spacial Time”, “Real Time” and “Imaginary Time”….!!!! DAMMIT THIS IS WHAT WE ARE WATCHING NOW!!!!!!! THIS SEASON!!!! BUT!!! WHICH TIME IS WHICH!!!! I HAVE MY THEORIES BUT I AM JUST SAYING!
OBSERVATION #4: In season 3 we are introduced to the building of the runway……season 5 we finally SEE THE FREAKIN RUNWAY…. We have blogged about this before… However… When watching season 5 it reminded me again that this has been a plan set way in advanced… BEN HAS KNOWN ABOUT THIS SHIT FOR A LLLLLLOOONNNNG TIME… WE ALL KNOW IT! BUT SOMETIMES WE FORGET THIS…. BEN IS FREAKIN GOOD I TELL YOU! I know Ben just may have been following orders set forth by Jacob to build that damn thing but…I’M JUST SAYING…
OBSERVATION #4: Charlotte says something about being with Hannibol…. Will we see an episode that(ala Richard or even Jacob and MIB) that will take us back that far??? I mean I know there isn’t much time left for this dog gone show to be over… but….I’M JUST SAYING!!!!
ADAM…
They just could very well be giving theirselves an out… Like certain questions regarding Jack’s tattoos… or even…hate to say it… the HURLEY BIRD… BUT i I do feel they will answer most of the questions.. Heck. I trust them too. Even if we are left in a loop etc. etc. We will atleast know. I don’t think it will be a loop persay But may be room for this to begin with a new group.
They also be throwing this article/blog out their to get a feel from the fans to know exactly what questions would be the best questions to answer.
I agree… with them though…the show holds its own and I actually like that they may leave room for dialog to continue… ala the movie Pulp Fiction and what the hell was actually in the suitcase. Otherwise we end with a Truman Show scenario and go back to our daily lives when its all over….

Sorry for the bad posting… my lap top is giving me problems… Scott can any of these be deleted??
Hey Jason – I went through and cleaned up the comments for you.
I saw a few days ago an interview with Richard Alpert (i forgot now his real name), however, he told that the episode what´s centred on himself called “Ab Aeterno” will show how everything started on the island, i mean from hundret years ago or so, he also said it will answer questions about the island which we/ the fans are waiting since the beginning of Lost. So this should be one of the most revealing stuffs episode, as he stated.
i am know totally excited and can´t wait for it. I think the episode is the ninth, so not so long to wait for.
Jason I’m not worried about the certain questions as I am with the finale and the ending. I would just like to understand the overall scope and point of show at the end. I don’t want to be wondering who was bad and or good at the end. I want to know what happens to everyone. I don’t want it to be like the Sopranos where we all said well WTF happened to Tony? I just want a clear ending that doesn’t open up itself to be criticized like the Sopranos. That show went from a great show to just another show because of the ending. People were let down. I don’t want to feel let down.
Adam… I hear you Dude!!!
Roman- re post 25. Good point. Thinking back, Jacob was very specific about getting Sayid into the temple, and even went so far as to give Hurley a guitar case with a written message in it to make sure that Dogan knew the plan.
And for that matter, what if that message from Jacob was–”Dogan, you’ve done a good job as temple guardian, and you are done, you can go home now. Stay in the temple when flocke comes, let kill you, and you will be transported to be with your son.” That may explain why Dogan did not run when everone else did. He had to know that smokey could get in, so now it seems like Jacob set this whole thing up.
Maybe Jacob is good???
Jason- Good points above. When you look at the building of the runway in light of the fact that a plane actually used it, yes, it does seem like part of the plan, and Ben knew it. I always thought that Ben pulled an academy award winning performance when he pretended to be the used, wounded and angry believer in Jacob at the statute just before he stabbed him. Jacob clearly walked into that knife, and this was all part of a long con of Jacob to get MIB.
So I am leaning towards the fact that bug-eyed Ben is good!!!!!
TL: – looks like too many personalities are dreaming (:-)to be killed for the same reason – to go off the island, as if it is the only way … too strange…
, but this point of view brings us to varios meangless speculations, for instance -> be killed on the island in certain conditions means be transfered to some alternative reality and so on,…
Just in case anyone needs a little laugh, I saw the following name for flocke on another site:
“sir-smokes-a-locke”
By the way, does anyone think it odd that it was Illana who brought Sayid to the island via handcuffs, and when she came into the temple she was looking for him (although Ben went to find him). And, in the clips above, Illana again asked where he was??
TL….good point about the Ilana & Sayid story! If i remember right, it began last season when Jacob visited her in that hospital where she was obviously heavily injured. Jacob must have told her why he needed Sayid and why he is so important to him! MiB doesn´t seemed very well interested on Sayid although he turned on his side anyway! I don´t know if it was Jacob´s plan to get Sayid to the temple to become evil?? Till now most things Jacob put his fingers on went the way he wanted to. Also like telling always hurley what´s next to do, same as it was shortly before Sayid was dying in the jungle and then bringing him to the temple. For me it seemed Sayid was always very very important for Jacob, whatever the reason was or still is??
Ok, today is Lost day (although i cannot see it until tomorrow morning), so things getting closer and today we gona get Ben´s story. Very Good! I am on one hand excited to see what about Ben (..”whhaatt abboouutt mmee”..- that was the most pathetic sentence from Ben i ever heard!!) but on the other hand it´s like Ben played out his important storyline, so what should/could he has still to do? He´s mightless against the big “MI f+++ing B” monster and also useless. So i am assuming Dr. Linus is getting a death lesson in this episode! He was released once by MiB (as Smokey) but that was before MIB overtook J. Locke´s body, so what´s now?
Thinking about Ben makes me also thinking about Whidmore and especially about Mrs. “destiny” Hawkings. It was her damn plan to bring everyone back again with “Ajira Airs” to the island although Faraday told them they were not supposed to come back, at least not yet. So she always seemed to know everything, but she also seemed to me always as a bad person, i think it´s because her attitude to everyone and everything. She knows most for sure and i bet she will continue playing in the upcoming episodes.
…but…i don´t like her…, she messed around with Desmond who was so breathtaking heroic in past season..-shame on her and ohhh….now i remember Whidmore having always the same bad ass attitude to Desmond as Hawkings?? WTF? There have to be more on that..
Sorry for the long post but i have one more thing to say.
If somebody doesn´t wanna know anything about this episode, don´t read further!!
The guest stars in this ep are among other things Charles Widmore, Alex (dead daughter), Roger ben´s dad and also Leslie Arzt. Will see how this all plays out….
Don’t forget everyone…. on the island we still have a plane on a runway and a pilot on the island who can fly that plan!!!
My personal forcast…it(the plane) will be used again to get off the island before it sinks….
I hope we find out why they got kicked off the island… widmore and Hawkins……
I also hope we see them in the sliding world… if so this will answer quite a bit… because the were banished before the great bang… which would then mean they got off the island and may still be trying to return…. etc etc…. Which would then effect our perception of the sliding world… which I am begining to think it is now the “imaginary time” (SEE MY POST #27) Of which is trying to catch up to “Space Time” and “Real Time” to become… “REAL TIME”
C.P.L.- Post 38. Well done!!!!!! That was a great read!!!
Jason- Yes, there is a plane on the island and a pilot with crazy hair, but wasn’t the plane sort of trashed in the crash??? It would be much easier to just leave via the flying donkey wheel. I mean Ben blasted an opening to it, you can put on a parka to keep from getting too cold down there, and yes you would wind up in Tunisia, but there will be a bunch of rebels to meet you there, like they met Ben and John!!!!
Can’t wait- I have Lost fever.
Richard7769- Here is a link to a video of some behind the scenes shooting of lost. I thought of you because your leading lady Sun is in it!!!!
http://www.ew.com/ew/video/0,,20313460_20313475,00.html
Here is a copy and paste from lostpedia regarding a dream that Claire had back in S1, I found it pretty interesting:
Claire is seen waking up. With a confused and concerned expression on her face she looks down and feels her stomach, and notices that she is not pregnant. A baby’s cry is heard and Claire starts off into the jungle in a daze, apparently looking for the source of the crying. Claire sees a light in the forest and walks toward it. She encounters Locke sitting at the table at which she received her psychic reading (in her flashback later in this episode); the psychic’s electric lamp is also present. As she approaches, Locke draws what appear to be the psychic’s cards from a deck one by one as he stares down at the table (the first one making the sound of a metal against metal, like a knife being unsheathed); they exchange a few brief words:
CLAIRE: What’s happening?
LOCKE: You know what’s happening.
CLAIRE: But I don’t understand. Why –?
LOCKE: He was your responsibility but you gave him away, Claire. Everyone pays the price now.
As Locke finishes saying this, he looks up at her with a creepy expression on his face and has one black eye and one white eye. Claire then hears a baby’s cry and runs into the jungle. She finds a crib (with a plane mobile identical to the one later found in the Nursery). Claire pulls the blankets back, finding a thick dark pool of blood and begins screaming hysterically; just then she wakes up and realizes that she has blood all over her hands. We later find out that she had dug her fingernails into he hand in her sleep.
Total!!!! thank you for the link!!! that was GREAT!!! ESPECIALLY THE SUN UP SUN DOWN BIT!
Jones… thank you…
A forshadowing you think??
Jones- very interesting. I had forgotten about that.
whidmore got kicked off for banging some chic and going on and off the island all the time without people knowing i think…it was something like that. no idea about hawking
I really think that scene is going to play a pretty big role, I guess really it already foreshadowed Locke to Flocke but I think there is more to it like there is more to Aaron.
Possible Spoiler below although it just deals with the preview for DR. Linus at the end of Sundown.
Seems like Ben is digging up a grave, could this be Locke’s grave, Could there still possibly be a Locke(Jacob) vs Flocke scenario? I think so anyway.
Adam post 47, Yeah it was something like that, it was all there during the scene where Ben went down to see Widmore off the island, they were standing on the dock for the sub when Widmore says that it is Bens fault that he is getting kicked off and then Ben sets him straight, (I can’t say it any better then Adam already did so I won’t try lol)
Lost just confirmed MIB is Flocke/Smokie.
SHIT…. CABLE WENT OUT!!!! ZNC NOS IT IS 5 MINUTS BEFORE LOST…ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! NO LOST FOR ME TONIGHT…
>:-{
Jason- You are getting ROBBED. SUE them!!!! That is unacceptable!!!!
I FOUND A LIVE STREAM ONLINE!!!!!!! JUSTIN TV!!!!! HAHAHAHAH! JUST WHEN THEY THOUGHT THEY HAD ME…!!! MISSED THE FIRST FIVE MINUTES THOUGH!!!!
IIIIII WWWWWAAAAASSSS RIGHTTTTT ABOUT BEEEEEENNNN!!!!! NOW LEAVE ME ALONE!
If someone is ready to chat it up about tonights show… I am ready and waiting….. A LOT of answers were answered tonight… would love to share…
I wont post on this episode until tomorrow but Jason was right. In last weeks episode I watched before this one did anyone else catch Sayid when he came back to the temple to deliver the message from Flocke he said “Jacob I’d dead you are all now free”. Very interesting.
TL thank you for the link I needed a fix
Richard… I wont talk about it either then… unless someone else cracks…
But I can say this… My post earlier about “Space Time” “Imaginary Time” and “Real Time” and how they thread together is ever so evident now. I feel “Space Time” covers both while the other two are working to become one with another…..and can effect each other. I feel this whole time… the time on the island has been “Imaginary Time”… this is why the deja vu…
The “Imaginary Time” is only real time unto itself. But to the actual “”REAL TIME”" the “Imaginary Time” is just that…imaginary and doesn’t exist… However…it”Imaginary Time” does exist because it is just that imaginary. We are without a doubt seeing how “Imaginary Time” can effect “Real Time”. This is why…I feel… we started this season seeing the island underwater. Because what happened on the island and the island always constantly moving in “Space Time”… is just that “Imaginary” and has been moving in”Imaginary Time” therefor effect its course in “Real Time”. The island is the character… and that character the island is correcting itself through “Imaginary Time” to effect its “Real Time”….
(continuation of post 56)….This of course……
may be wrong…..”depending on how Widmore and Hawkins fit into the picture…..
THIS SHOW IS FREAKING GREAT!!!!!!!!! WOW- THIS ONE WAS A DOOSEY AND IT IS ALL COMING
Jason, I have to crack. I NEED TO TALK NOW!!!!Besides, it is technically tomorrow for the East Coast U.S. folks, so here goes.
SPOILER ALERT- DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED.
OOPS- HIT THE WRONG BUTTON. I GOT A LITTLE EXCITED.
SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK. Richard Alpert. That was crazy seeing him suicidal over being duped. It was just like Ben was when Jacob trashed him at the statute. Good stuff. What bothers me though is that I am not convinced that he was really going to kill himself. I think this was part of Jacob’s plan to see if Jack “had what it took” which is the right amount of faith to take over as protector. I mean clearly Jacob was looking for something from Jack at the lighthouse, and Jack has concluded that he has something to do (despite the little hissy fit in the lighthouse)
Flocke. He clearly lied to Ben about protecting the island, as he told Sawyer there was nothing to protect. So he lied to one of them. He’s like Ben, can’t tell the truth.
The Hydra- Well, isn’t that the island where the plane is?? Why go there?? Since it is on a separate island a few miles away, does flocke have a small yacht to transport them (about 30), did he recreate the Golden Gate Bridge, or is it going to happen via outrigger canoe. Also, it conveniently has a submarine loading platform which leads me to Widmore.
My first thought was that flocke somehow contacted him when he took over John’s body, and Widmore, who probably had a spare submarine laying around in guam, made a be-line for the island. Then I thought that he put a tracker on Aljira Air (which he might own), and as soon as the plane came down, off he went. Then again, Jacob could have told him. I have no clue, but if it took him 20 years to find the island after being banished, and it moved after the freighter got there, something happened for him to have found it so quickly.
OK, That is all for now.
Miles- How did he know about Nikki, Paolo and the diamonds? Also, when did he have time to dig up the grave and get the stones. I mean Ben was digging a grave like a little girl and was taking forever, and his running through the jungle scene with iilana was fairly short. Did I miss something??
Hurley- The “are you a cyborg” or a “vampire” comment. Classic.
One more thing. Richard Alpert said that the rules were that once you were touched by Jacob you cannot kill yourself, but someone else can. So is that why Ben stopped John from killing himself– Because he knew it would not work as Jacob already touched him?
Last, are we sure that Dogan is dead? I means Sayid “died” in the water from drowning and 2 hrs later he was good as new. So can’t the same thing happen to Dogan? Even Illana asked if he was really dead.
That was just an amazing episode!!! I just watched it and i am still caught up!
First i have to say……Alex – isn´t she beautifull! Wow i was blown away by her, never recognized before how damn hot she actually is!! Although her story was useless, i mean why are Ben and Alex together in the alternate universe but not related somehow to each other how it is is in the real world?
I think she was there to show us how Ben could be also a good person though and even if it´s not his own daughter, so yes Ben is also good but in his special case it depends on the given situation….so that means Ben could be a good teacher/ son/ friend; but also a ruthless Killer, we know that, he knows that, Jason knows that!!!
Ok, so does this mean Ben turned to the good side to Ilana, really? he also said to Flocke he´s coming with him….
Next point is the richard alpert story. Very interesting stuff and as i understood this richard told em if you got once touched by Jacob you cannot die anymore, or better….you´re not going to age!!!!!!!!! Right!!! So that would mean the Losties which were touched by Jacob are now immortal and ageless as Richard is?!?!?
I put my money on Jack becoming Jacob´s surrogate!!
TL….you might be right about Dogan, i also expect that.
Flocke and his group are heading to the hydra island to leave this place!? What they are gonna do, fix the airplane and using the landing strip to fly away? Or are they gonna beat up Widmore and steal his submarine. Speaking of Widmore…..he is back and it looks like he has his own little army with him. Seems like he knows what he has to deal with!
Ben´s father talked about the island, he said “what would be if we had stayed there”……,so this confuses me now. He said this in a way they were already on the island but left it, for what reason? Do i missunderstood something? correct me guys..
We saw Richards chains in the black rock. There was also the most stupid scene in this episodes…Jack´s superpowers!? He stopped the burning fuse with his mind, as Flocke did with Ben´s footcuffs!? WTF!?
Alex is sooo damn hot!!!!
Richard tweaking out scene…had me CRACKIN UP!!!! THAT DUDE WENT CRAZY THERE FOR A SECOND!!! But I recall Richard saying once you are touched by Jacob it is a gift.
Total-GREAT OBSERVATION ON SO MANY LEVELS!!! Although I don’t feel 100% yet about Jack being set up as the next Jacob. All we know is that Jack has a purpose. The main reason I feel supports this notion is what I said earlier in the “Space Time” “Real Time” and “Imaginary Time” Post (See Post 56). However, the only real strange event in the sliding time what I call “Real Time” that happened was when Desmond disappeared on the plane after talkin with Jack. I feel at least for now… that yes Jack could be the new Jacob… but I also feel DESMOND could be the new Jacob. I also feel this way about Desmond because of what Hawkins told him about the island not being through with him yet and that his purpose was to never leave the island…etc etc.. also because he is different.
Last night after the show I watched this…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECW8HNq0meE
This explained to me where Ben was good all along…..
I also feel this is set up for things to come about Widmore this season. Ben has already redeemed his spirit…. What amoe does Widmore have against him now??? Dont foret this scene…..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJI-XRR8g-8
How the hell did he know about the war coming… Also…I feel this is a setup to reconnect with Locke (FLOCKE).
Dont forget Widmore says “I was exiled by HIM”… Why did not say “Ben”… I feel Widmore was talking about Jacob!!!
Lighthouse…… Jack in this episode mentioned Jacob watching him through the lighthouse…. Keep in mind… We also saw where Jin and Sun got married… Could this somehow be a link to them being Adam and Eve…???
Okay Here I go:
First what an AMAZING episode and damn-it I WAS RIGHT ABOUT ALPERT being on the ship and I’m telling you when Widmore fixed Locke’s leg he put a GPS or something in it. The sub was heading to the graveyard.
I liked the scene with Alpert and Jack in the ship but the I’ll put out the wick with my mind I have to agree with CPL it was a little hokie.
Jason, quit reminding me that Sun and Jin are married.
There was a book that widmore had on his lap I wonder if it was the one from the Black Rock?
The thing with Ben was kind of moving it’s like he just wanted to be accepted. And Flocke to try and get him to kill Ilana was like Dogan trying to kill Sayid by Flocke’s hand.
I was happy for a little Sun, but I thought Hurley was gonna kill her with his man boobs when he was running at her.
I believe that Ben’s father maybe took him off the island when they evacuated or just left because the dad wasn’t interested in the job they gave him. Where the hell did they get organic Microwave food?
Alex did look good and I liked the way they had Ben helping her in the “sideways” world instead of helping himself like we thought he would was a very nice touch.
Maybe there is a way to sink the island there? I believe the only way for Flocke (sir smoke a lot) to leave is to destroy the island.
I still think there is something to Sayid saying you are all now free when he announced that Jacob was dead. Maybe Jacob was trying to keep them from crossing over to the other side?
Sorry for the long post but this had to be one of the best episodes yet.
Jason, i really tried to understand your time stuff but i confess my brains just got fried ..
TL, good point on Locke being unable to hang himself..
CPL, it seems the candidates touched by Jacob cant kill themselves, but they can die . Richard’s deal was to be immortal , it doesnt apply to everyone i guess.
Michael couldnt kill himself too…but he died in the freighter explosion.
Jack had tried suicide on that bridge not long before he returned to the island.
Hurley asked Richard how come he never aged…How did he know that? I dont remember Hurley meeting Richard in the past…
Marco, cool information, where did you see it?
Well I like to think of smoke monster as UNlocke because its just the easiest way to describe the imposter. The Dr. Linus episode was good but not great … I don’t like when they tease about a death that never transpires. False advertising. However it was nice to see Linus complete one unselfish act in his life. Having killed Jacob it was surprising to watch the character degenerate so fast into what he has become… kind of a wimpy not so evil as much as needy little mole man. Emerson is a great actor when given something to do. Since we know the sland demands a protector & there are 6 candidates /® at least we know where the ship is headed. As for Richard Alpert. A favorite of mine. I believe its very near time to spell out his story. Why did he get granted what looks to be everlasting life? Unlocke refers to the chains being gone? Alpert was a slave on the B lack Rock ? Explain! Curse Cuse and Lindelof. Well more laqter
Did Jacob touch all the candidates or only the ones we’seen?
Could it be that some candidates were touched and others didnt?
What if all of the candidates , touched or not, cant kill themselves , but the ones touched can only be killed by other candidates, while the candidates that were not touched can be killed in others ways, like Michael and Juliet , Charlie, Boone…
Jin was touched and he didnt die in the freighter explosion..that was weird at the time…
Jonathan, they showed it on the “enhanced” Sayid centric episode, right before Sayid stabed Flocke.
Ilana said there are six candidates left.
1- Jack
2 – Hurley
3 – Kate
4 – Sawyer
5 – Jin
6 – Sun? Ilana? Lapidus?
Sayid would be one but i guess he is no longer a candidate after he is ”infected”
Richard…LOL Hurley’s man boobs!!! LOL…
I can’t lie… this episode made me tear up…(Damn IT) Seeing Ben in both Time frames come to redemption, and then Llana saying I’ll take you!!!(Even when broken) aaaaannnddd then him helping Sun!!! SHIT! I still disagree Ben has not been selfish… He has done stuff for the sake of the island and to maintain that sake was him maintaining power of control…Never once did he disrespect the island. He did however make a HUGE or decision at the cost of his daughter that was wrong… he just thought the result would be different.
Richard…. I think you are right about some type of instrument being inserted in Dead Locke for Widmore to track
Jonathon…. I wish I could explain it in a easier way. I really is pretty simple. Here is the diagram… Faraday had the same diagram in his journal…
http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/lostpedia/images/c/c6/Island_wire.png
jonathan- can Kate be candidate if her name wasn’t on the wall?
Here goes one more time…….
1) Imaginary Time= Island Time
2) Real Time= Sliding door Time
3) Space Time= the distance between to points… in this case One point Island time (imaginary time) Second point sliding door time(Real Time). According to Spacetime both can effect each other. (You will have to research this to understand spacetime) For a simplified understanding here you go… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spacetime.
This is why….When we are watching events on Island time (Imaginary Time) Ben making a good unselfish decision it effect the sliding time (Real Time) or when Sayid says he is really a good person on Island time (Imaginary Time) we see him making the same decisions on sliding time (Real Time) or when Sayid goes buck wild and kills Dogan (BUT for a justified reason) in Island Time (Imaginary Time) we see Sayid kill in Sliding Time (Real time) for a justified reason. Which in all according to Space Time…as far as our understanding of Sayid and Ben…Sayid is a killer…may not like it but that is what he is. Ben maybe manipulater…but he does it for the sake of something outside of hisself.
What is difficult for many of us to grasp is that Imaginary Time is really the constant in this show…… and that Imaginary Time effects Real Time. We live our lives in Real time and WE imagine…..so WE control our own Imaginary Time. Because of this it is difficult for us to believe let alone understand that we can be effected inversely… that being (which is also the direction of the show that) Imaginary Time effects Real Time.
Post 60 – Totallylost, on March 10th, 2010 at 1:43 am Said: One more thing. Richard Alpert said that the rules were that once you were touched by Jacob you cannot kill yourself, but someone else can. So is that why Ben stopped John from killing himself– Because he knew it would not work as Jacob already touched him?
I like it, great thinking, def a possibility.
I don’t think that the Jack and Richard scene is the same as some are suggesting. I never took it as Jack putting out the fuse with his mind. I took it as Jack accepting his fate whatever it may be. Although I truly think that in his mind there was no chance of that dynamite going off. What I did find odd was how he sent Hurley away. Was it to protect him, or so that he didn’t know what was going on?
I think that I am going to give up hope about the Locke vs. Flocke showdown lol.
Jason I still think Ben is bad. He was all sorry when they killed Alex, yet he still killed Jacob after that. As Miles said after to Ben, when Jacob dying he had hoped he was wrong about Ben.
I don’t know… But what I do know… if my daughter ended up dead after all the sacrifices I made… I would be pissed too especially when confronting that person who I sacrfied for sad…. “So”. Come on man…
Oh I understand the reasoning behind it, and hey put me in the same situation I am not saying that I wouldn’t want to do the same thing.
I can agree with you that Ben seems to be a reconciled man but I mean this is still the same guy that for the sake of power and control (at least in my mind) planned (or was at least a major part of) the purge and killed all the Dharma people, his father, and I can keep going but I won’t because I know that you do not agree and probably won’t.
I do like the real and imaginary time with space-time explanation. And if this is the case then the island is def based in imaginary time.
Miles would know about the diamonds because he can communicate with the dead to find out how they died etc. Now as for when he had time to dig them up I really don’t know.
Sorry that last one was for TL regarding post 59.
Evening all.
I thought this was a good, solid episode, perhaps not a classic, but with some great moments.
One thing I’m confused by though – why not use some character we’ve already met before as Ben’s Principle, instead of Dick the sleazy journalist from Die Hard and Die Hard 2? The way they did with Keamy last week, someone like… I dunno, that Other who Juliet shot on the beach back in Season 3 when Kate and Sawyer were escaping? Or maybe even Tom? That would be cool, seeing Tom again. Mind you, Tom was gay, so he wouldn’t really be fooling around with a female nurse…
If they’re gonna have this whole alternate dimension featuring people who were on the island but now lead different lives, they should bloody well stick to that formula!
End of rant.
The two most interesting bits of dialogue for me were Richard’s “Whatever Jacob said, don’t believe him.” and Miles’ “Right up until the second the knife pierced his heart, he was hoping he was wrong about you… guess he wasn’t.” I also loved Miles’ grave-robbing, I KNEW Niki and Paulo would be popping up again in some way or another!
Jason….you should get a prize for your timeline theory!! complicated stuff but i understand it and have to say it´s really good as we know that everything in each timeline is connected to each other. Every made decision happens in both timelines but under other circumstances and because of other reasons! i.e. before Ben enters the office of the principal to confront him and on the other side he starts running away from Ilana to get the rifle…., in both scenarios he was again at the point to get again in charge of someting, be it the school principal or just to gain the mastery over Ilana and get rid of the main island..
Ben was a bad man, don´t know if he still is but imaging him being good sounds totally absurd for me. Even if he did it for the sake of something outside of hisself in the end he had the free decision also mentioned by Jacob to Ben, so HE could always choose to do a good or a bad thing but he was always willing to do the bad thing with the excuse he is doing it for the island. So he is bad but got kinda of redemption in this episode, actually by Ilana….., now everything is good again, smile and peace…..the way Lost is going on?..
and i think i am speaking for all when i am saying even if Ben was a bad man, he was good at it! I really enjoyed him seeing acting as an icecold leader, even when killing people (don´t forget it´s a tv show), but the new sad and boring good Ben is just useless for the show, isn´t he!?!?
Jones…. I know it is easy to peg Ben as the Master mind behind the purge… However…. it is only… really slightly suggested. It is much easier to assume he did and at that time when exposed to the purge assume he had based on how the writters developed the charactor. However, there is nothing that says he did. In fact there is greater support on more then one occasion that Ben took orders from someone else… that being Jacob. aaannnddd or was doing things for the sake of the island and the threats to to island.
Let’s face it…the Dharma initiative were not saints. and they could not get along with the initial inhabitants. (Conquistador Cortez like situation here) To add to insult….WIDMORE INDUSTRIES ALSO IS WELL INVESTED in the Dharma iniciative! We already know atleast a strong suggestion as to what direction the Widmore charactor is being painted. The connecting dots are too obvious for me. But hey I do see your side as well.
Jason- good points on #82 and also I agree with CPL on the time line theory but just imagine our surprise if Widmore is there for Flocke to help him win the war. Or if in the midst of battle (which we assume is coming) Ben turns again and starts to help the other side.
I fully believe there are going to be some WTF moments to come. I also believe when Ilana said to Miles here is the “body” of Jacob that there was more into that than meets the eye. Wouldn’t it be something if Jacob was reincarnated into another Smokey……… just a thought.
Hi all.
Jones- I am with you re the jack/Richard dynamite fuse scene. I did not see it as jack putting the fuse out with his mind, but as having faith that he had a purpose on the island and that until it is fulfilled, he would not die.
Jason. When I first read your 3 time line theory, I thought you were smoking crack. It totally fried my brain as Jonathan said. BUT . . . when I read post 74, I get it, and now I am leaning towards the fact that you are brilliant!!!!! You just may have the most plausible explanation for this time-line stuff.
cast away: Thanks for the laugh of calling Ben a “needy little mole man.” Hilarious.
Richard7669- I am glad you got your Sun fix, and I think you may be right about having a GPS put into locke. The bottom line is someone told Widmore where the island is.
C.P.L.- I had the same question of you about flocke et all going to the Hydra. First, how do you get all 30 there?? Via yacht, speed boat, or WTF??? Second, why?? The plane is trashed, the only pilot is at the beach, so what gives?? The only thing I can think of is that they are going to meet Widmore’s sub.
Jonathan- re post 68. Good points about Jacob touching or not touching candidates. I also wondered about Jin not dying on the freighter when he should have.
Scoppie- I am with you about what miles said to Ben about what Jacob was thinking before he offed him. Very interesting.
Oh, one other thing that I found very interesting – Roger Linus, hooked up to a drip and wishing he and his son had never left that island, the closest we’ve yet come to finding out just what the heck happened when Juliet detonated the bomb.
Also, as I suggested before on another post, how do you think he’ll react if he runs into Sayid, who he shot thirty years ago, in this new reality?
I have a problem with Miles (among other things).
Miles said that he can only tell HOW someone was killed. Did I hear that right??? So, how did he know that Nikki and Paolo were buried with diamonds? I mean they were each bit by a spider and died of suffocation from being buried.
That would be the only thing they could tell Miles.
I also recall that Sawyer had the diamonds last, and threw them in the grave when Sun made him feel guilty. So, what gives???
Never mind that he did not know which grave they were in, or had time to dig them up given that Ben spent most of the time in the graveyard alone. HOW DID HE KNOW???????
You know what, WHO CARES???????????? I guess this will not solve the islands mysteries. I am just babbling.
I just received an email to create a 35 second lost video and you can win a trip to Hollywood to the final episode party.
Here is the link if anyone is interested,
http://abc.go.com/shows/lost/fan-promo-contest
Richard- Is that how you are going to try and see Sun???
Richard, Kate’s name was in the lighthouse, number 51, not crossed out.
Flocke tried to tempt Ben as he did with Claire , Sawyer and Sayid…but it didnt work…
Does MIB need a replacement too?
So he chooses among the people Jacob brings to the island…MIB wrote the names in the cave…and Jacob in the lighthouse…
Scoopie, post 85, definetely the revelation that Ben and his father were on the island in the LA X time will play an important role…
CPL… AH HA!!! YOU GOT IT!!! NOW let’s take this a step further…!!! Because in understanding the time thread connection it then helps one to understand Fate and Destiny! I hate to keep harping on this subject but it really seems to be the one most developed and that is Ben.
Sayid(still a work in progress but charactor almost seems to be resolved) Jack? baby steps towards being resolved. But let me digress back to Ben and the relationship to the Fate Destiny relationship in context with the time thread.
If Destiny is something we choose to go after…then ones Fate is something that happens for an individual even though Fate is a predetermined path without choice…buuuuuttt Fate acutually leads one back to their choice of Destiny (sounds confusing but oh so simple)… Now if one understands that then one understands the thread!!! The Imaginary Time(Island time) parallels Destiny (the choice)…. the Real Time(Sliding time) parallels Fate (path made but effected by choices to achieve…DESTINY! LOL) So…the decisions made in Imaginary Time-Destiny are effecting REAL TIME FATE to achieve what….DESTINY!!! IT GOES….like this…Destiny then Fate to achieve Destiny…
Keep with me here…
The two threads Imaginary Time(Destiny)…. and Real Time(Fate)…. Are connected by Spacetime…(DESTINY)… Sooooo….
Imaginary Time (Destiny) is trying to catch up to Real Time (Fate) so Spacetime(Destiny) doesn’t have to be seperated by the two… so the characters in Real Time can achieve their…DESTINY!
Keep with me here (sorry for the long post everyone)
Working backwards here… Ben in Real time achieves his Destiny to be a Good Teacher, Mentor, Father Figure, make good decisions unselfish decisions…. His Fate in Real time was effected by his Destiny (choice) in Imaginary Time….aaaannnddd his Destiny is to be good.
so…. if his destiny was or is to be good then was or is he ever really bad?
Also it looks like Charlotte will be back in the next episode probably only in the alternate time line.
Jonathan… GREAT QUESTION… DOES MIB NEED A REPLACEMENT?! What do you think?
Total…. They were burried alive not dead remember Nikki’s eyes opened when sand was being dumped on them.
Jason you are making my head hurt. You have really got to quit smoking jumanchie and posting. Dude you’re killing me. Actually all kidding aside it is a good theory I would try to debunk it but I would have to follow it better.
jonathan- good call on the lighthouse wheel forgot about that.
TL- according to the paper i received I don’t know if the party is big enough for her to be on one end and me on the other….. maybe if I have a pair of binoculars I guess it could work. She probably doesn’t even like the Irish……
Good night from Sweden… But first:
0. Good posts from all of you! Keep it up!
1. About when Ben killed Locke. Someone suggested that Ben knew that Locke couldn’t kill himself, but I wonder HOW? I mean, do we know that Ben knew Jacob touched Locke?
2. Kate will soon meet Sawyer. How will he react when/if hearing Kate tell him about what Smokie did? And does Kate know Flocke = Smokie?
3. WHY doesn’t Dogan stop/eliminate Saied before it was to late?? Even if he couldn’t kill him himself, he could at least do something!?
4. About Hurley’s (always!) wonderful talking. Cyborg or Vampire! Me me me me, me too… wonder about WHEN did Hurley met Richard (in 1977)?? I can’t remember that it ever happend!?
5. Will Widmore help Flocke & people to leave the island?
6. Jacob said “someone is comming”. Did he mean Widmore?
7. Did Desmond disappear (in the side timeline) because
he didn’t came back to the island?
8. Ooooh Yeeeesss! Alex is HOTTT! I liked Claire BEFORE she was “infected”. Now she only give me NIGHTMARES!
9. What about the “boy” who said to Flocke “you can’t kill”. Ok, we haven’t seen Flocke kill anybody, but Smokie.. And it’s 100% clear that Smokie = Flocke, so what difference does it makes which of them who kills?? And why should Flocke (MiB) care about “the rules”? Jacob is dead and he is FREE. Why care about rules then???
10. Maybe I missunderstand when Alex was killed. To me it didn’t looked like Ben “sacrificed” her for Jacob/the island. He seemed very shocked about it, didn’t believe it could happen. And after that, he left the island and “visited” Widmore.. and something was said about “breaking the rules”.. About this I’m confused.. (LOL)
11. Great episode! Looks like Jack is starting to BElIEVE!
Regarding Miles,
I think the way he explained it to Hurley is the best. Something along the lines of when you die your brain doesn’t function anymore therefore you have no more thoughts and he can only find out what had happened before that point. I think what he said to Ilana is just him trying to clarify that he can’t actually talk to the dead just sort of read what is left of them. (i.e. I can’t actually talk to him only find out how he died and stuff).
I had always sort of assumed (well at least since we found out that Jacob needs a replacement) that MIB would need a replacement but I can’t really remember why I thought it. So yeah that is a great question Jonathan.
As you said Jason, I assume Ben is a large portion of the purge but no I am not sure. I guess it really is implied but that is still my belief until proven otherwise, but I can def see how it could be incorrect.
I am going to need a lot more time to think before I comment on Jason’s new theory but I know I like it.
Anyone else here willing to bet that Widmore has had previous dealings with MIB. Maybe that is the actual reason that he was banished the first time. Maybe MIB allowed him to leave the island to try to persuade him to join his side. I think Widmore probably was aware that MIB would change to FLocke.
Jones- I couldn’t agree with you more. I believe Widmore wants to control the island and all that is on it. I also believe he is in this with MIB and they are going to try to kill Ilana’s group especially Jack. I think he put GPS in Locke’s body to help him find the island and I believe he wants to be like Alpert and never grow old so he can rule forever. Just my thoughts.
Jones- Good point about Widmore possibly having prior dealings with MIB. Also, someone said above that when He Widmore was banished someone other than Ben seemed to have ordered it.
TheCandiate- Question 4 about Richard and Hurley. I don’t thing they ever met on Island (at least not that we have seen), but it is possible that they have off island and we just have not seen that scene yet. Remember that Hurley has seen a lot of folks off and on island, so perhaps we will see if in the Richard Centric episode coming up soon.
Okay guys I may have a name for MIB the name is “Cerberus”. I picked it up from another Lost site.
Wikipedia has the definition as follows: n Greek and Roman mythology, is a multi-headed hound (usually three-headed[1][3][4]) which guards the gates of Hades, to prevent those who have crossed the river Styx from ever escaping.
This makes sense if our Losties were trying to escape their destiny of dying which they should have done when the plane crashed.
Post 75 Jones: I agree with the Jack and Richard scene. Maybe he sent away Hurley just incase it did go off. Richard wanted to die n maybe Jack felt like he had nothing to lose also.
