Cabin Fever Recap | Could it be anymore unpredictable?

Could this show be even more unpredictable? After the closing lines of this episode, the answer is yes.

Cabin Fever was the name of this week’s episode, and as you probably guessed it was going to be about visiting Jacob ‘s cabin. I thought this was a very interesting episode and it is quickly hurdling us in the direction of getting us a little bit closer to the answers to some of the bigger outstanding questions we have been asking for years.

The episode opens up with a flashback obviously in the 40s or 50s with a song being played on the record player. The lyrics “Every day things are getting closer, going faster than a roller coaster”. I thought this was an interesting choice of song because as I mentioned, it seems like the overall plot of Lost is going faster and faster each week.

Emily should listen to her mom or a car might hit her.

Emily is also 6 months pregnant with a baby that she wants to name John….Locke.

Hurley, Locke and Ben are looking for Jacob’s cabin. Hurley’s leading the way but had no idea he was doing so. He asks Ben how much further and he replies “I have no idea, I was following you”.

Back on the boat, Sayid informs Desmond that the helicopter has returned. The smoke monster may not have killed them all, but it sure did some damage.

Keamy wants to know how Ben knew all of the information about his past. It doesn’t take them long to figure out Michael has been passing the information to Ben.

Too bad for Keamy, the island is still protecting Michael from being killed. His gun seems to have mysteriously stopped working.

Back on the island, Locke hears someone cutting wood. He finds a man named Horace who apparently is building a cabin for him and his wife. By the way, Horace says he was part of the Dharma Initiative and been dead for 12 years.

He then has a groundhog day moment and introduces himself again and starts the story over again. He also has a bloody nose now and tells Locke he has to find him, and when he does he’ll find Jacob. Since he says he was building a place for himself and his wife, does this mean that Horrace is Jacob?

This encounter with Horrace was actually a dream Locke was having. Upon waking up, Ben informs him that he too use to have dreams. This comment from Ben is another step towards his acceptance that he is no longer Jacob’s right hand man and the leader of the island. Locke is slowly taking over what seems to be his rightful place on the island.

Back to the Locke flashback – The nurse tells her and her mother that John is a special baby. He has had multiple diseases that would normally kill a premature baby, but John has over come them all. Could this be a similar type of situation where the island is protecting Locke similar to how it wont let Michael die?

Emily freaks out and says she cant handle the baby and leaves to not be seen again. Mrs. Locke then goes directly into the question about whom she can talk to about adoption. When she turns around she sees a man staring at her through a window. Richard Alpert, who still looks exactly as he always has no matter how old he is. The look on her face when she see’s him suggests to me that she knows exactly who he is, and she’s not pleased to see him.

The nurse asks if he is the father, and she replies she doesn’t know who it is. I think that question may actually hold a bit of weight as we never saw who Emily was rushing off to see, and it was mentioned that the man was nearly twice her age. Seems like a match to me…

Flashforward even further into the future – Locke has grown up a few years and Richard has come to visit him at his adoption home. Locke seems to have always had a liking of backgammon.

Richard notices an interesting picture that John has painted. Looks a bit like the smoke monster to me.

Richard goes on to tell Locke that he thinks he’s special and wants him to come to his school. He then shows Locke a few different items and tells him to choose which ones belong to him. Locke chooses the sand from the beach, a compass, and….a knife. The knife seems to have been the wrong choice as it angers Richard and causes him to leave.

I believe the one he should have chosen was the Book of Laws. I read an interesting theory that some people think Richard was a descendant of the Black Rock ship and that he thinks Locke is the reincarnation of Hanso.

Back to the island – Locke has figured out from his dream that to find Horrace he needs to go back to the big grave where all of the Dharma Initiative is buried. He seems to be trying to pick the right object again. Except this time he’s digging through bodies looking for Horrace. Once he does find his body, he finds a map to the cabin in his pocket.

Back on the boat – Keamy tells Frank to gas up the chopper because they are going back to the island. He then demands a key from the captain and goes to unlock a safe. He pulls out what he refers to as the “Secondary Protocol” which also has a Dharma logo on it. He says it will tell him where Ben is going and that Widmore is sure to be right.

I believe where Ben is going is to the Temple that he has already sent all of the others to for safety. I also believe this is yet one more sign that Widmore has been on the island and may have once been a “leader” of some sorts just like Ben is now.

The captain doesn’t seem to agree with Keamy’s tactics and goes to tell Sayid and Desmond that they need to hide. During this scene we also see the doctor is alive and well in the background, and we also hear the SOS message from Farraday coming in on Omar’s phone.

Sayid asks for the zodiac raft so he can go back to the island and start getting the others off of it. The captain surprisingly agrees to this plan.

Back to Locke’s flashback – He’s a bit older still and seems to be in high school. He’s also been stuffed in a locker with a bloody lip, apparently not one of the cool kids.

His guidance councilor informs him that Mittelos Laboratories is interested in him coming to school there. Remember back when Richard was recruiting Juliet? He was recruiting her for a company called Mittelos Laboratories.

Interesting that Locke is being recruited for a science camp after all this time on the island he has been a man of faith vs. Jack who is the man of science. His councilor tells him that he is a scientist and that he can’t be the prom king, quarterback or superhero. Locke responds with a strong “Don’t tell me what I can’t do”. This scene reminded me of season 1 when they guy told him he couldn’t do the walkabout because he was paralyzed.

Back to the boat – Sayid and Desmond go to get on the boat. Only Desmond says he’s not going. He’s been on that island for 3 years and he’s not stepping foot on it again. He’s closer now to Penny than he ever has been and he’s not going to do anything that involves being back on that island. Sayid goes on with out him on a barring of 305.

Back to Locke’s flashback – He’s now grown and paralyzed. He is being pushed by an orderly who tells him not to give up, and that anything is possible. Before they showed his face, I somehow knew immediately that it would be Abaddon. And I was right.

He tells Locke that he should believe in miracles because he had one happen to himself. While waiting for the elevator he pushes Locke right to the edge of the stairs. I thought for sure he was going to push him down as he has been portrayed as a somewhat bad guy. But he doesn’t.

He tells Locke that he needs to go on a walkabout. – A journey of self-discovery. He tells Locke he found out what he was capable of on his walkabout. Could his walkabout have been on the island?

He tells Locke that he will soon understand what he’s talking about, and that he plans on running into him again and that John will owe him one.

Back on the boat – Keamy is loading up the helicopter and Frank tells him he’s not taking him. The doctor is also unluckily in this scene. Keamy says he will start killing people one by one until Frank agrees to fly him. The doctor happens to be the closest person and his fate is sealed with a knife to the throat. Just like he washes up on the island. Keamy goes on to also kill the captain of the boat. Frank agrees to fly him back.

Back on the island – This time on the beach with Jack. Jack and Juilet have a stupid conversation to pass the time for the helicopter arrive and it flies right over their head. Frank also throws a package out as he goes over.

The package ominously lands on Claire’s old hut, as you can see Aarron’s crib. The package contained a phone that showed the location of Keamy. Jack took this as a sign to follow them, but I think it was a warning for them to stay away.

Back to Ben Locke and Hurley – Finally, what we have all been waiting for since the first glimpse of the cabin. The have found it again, but Ben and Hurley are scared of haunted houses and decide to stay outside and share a candy bar.

Locke goes in by himself and that shadowy figure is waiting for him. Only this time we get to see his face. As we all figured out long ago, it is Christian Shepherd sitting there with a smile on his old dead face.

He’s not alone though. In the corner, we see Claire sitting there with an almost satisfied look on her face. I’ve said it since the second her house was blown up that she is dead, and I think this helps confirm that theory.

She’s not freaking out that she’s sitting in a cabin in the woods with her father on a mysterious island; she’s not asking if Aaron is OK. She just says “Hi John. I’m fine, I’m with him”.

Christian tells him not to worry about Claire right now and to ask the one question that matters. Locke asks “How do I save the island”. Christian responds with the most unexpected and stupid answer possible.

Once outside, Ben asks “Well? Did he tell you what we’re suppose to do”. Locke responds with “He wants us to move the island”.  Move the island?? I dont know if this means phsycially move the island to another location or some other out of context meaning.  Some are guessing that he wants to move the island to the antarctic region and tie it back into the fact that Ben was wearing a parka.  I have no idea, but I guess moving the island would explain why Jack is unable to crash on it again with all the trips he’s taking in the future and why Widmore isn’t able to find it.

From the previews I saw, next week Sayid will make it back to the island, Sawyer will give Aaron to Kate, and the Oceanic 6 become the Oceanic 6 and finally make it off the island. I guess that means that the remaining seasons will be happening off the island and the island will only be a mere flashback. That is unless there are people still alive as we have been led to believe.

Great theory on Claire me and my wife agree. I really have high hopes for the last 2 episodes. We think that the oceanic 6 are actually rescued by Penny’s boat . How many people saw Claire after her house blew up
Hurley Sawyer Locke Ben and the guy who see’s dead people surley there is a link somewhere here I can’t figure it out

2

It will be interesting to see how they decide who gets to go out… hurley is with locke and ben, the others are alltogether (I think the 6th one has to be aaron) but there are many others and the decision of only taking 6 people will be interesting to see made. who’ll make this decision? anyway, i was very pleased by this episode, v.v.v. good!
I would just like to know what is the link between jacob, the island and christian, i mean we know he was jack’s dead father in the plane but why is he jacob or his speaker… ??

I thought the captain of the boat was not a bad guy…

3

oh by the way… excellent recap! as always :)

4

christian (jack’s father) was on the plane, dead at the time in a casket….however i reckon that when the plane crashed, the island has somehow given him life, the same way it healed rose’s cancer and locke’s paralysis, i don’t think Claire is dead…I believe the island is protecting her the same way it has Michael, especially since her father is so close to jacob which could explain why she was saved….she has however been told some news,or brainwashed in some way….when locke said ‘how do i save the island?’ she seemed very content and smug which I don’t quite understand…kind of spooky

5

I remember seeing on the cover of the comic book a city in the clouds. What if the island is moved into the sky?
I guess we’ll see.

6

I really liked this episode, good to see stuff coming together again rather then drifting apart.

First question, Sayid seemed to leave the boat before Ray was killed. Since Ray washed up on the island last episode(or a few episodes ago) does that mean that Sayid gets somewhat lost on his way back. Surely his boat is faster then the currents bringing Ray to the island.

Next question, what does that mean for the relative time on the island. I had though from the pay load expeniment that Dan did that the island may lag the outside world time.

And what is that thing on his arm. my guess is that it is some sort of frequency device to keep him safe againts the black smoke monster. After all if Widmore knew about the island he probably also knows about the smoke and a way to fend it off. I am guessing it was in the secondary protocol.

Thats enough for one post from me, don’t wanna bore you guys and gals to much.

7

def a fun episode to watch. Lots of things happening that are interesting. Once Locke said move the island I immediately thought and posted on another entry that thats why no one can find it…..Locke was able to move it.

I guess Claire is dead and Jacks father is dead as well we know but whats with the sixth sense thing. They can all see dead people? I think Jacob is the island I dont know if anyone has looked into possible clues for this but we’ve never seen Jacob.

Hurley and Ben share a candy bar as almost like a bonding thing. How does Ben get off in a Parka if that even matters at this point. But how does he get off cause its for sure not with the Six.

I think Sayid might kill Penny this season for Ben, possibly when she saves Desmond. Fun episode for sure

8

I AGREE ADAM!!! I feel Sayid will kill Penny as well! Anew rumor has been developing that Locke’s father is actually really Charles Widmore!!!! LOL.

9

Walter – I’m not sure that Penny’s boat will rescue them. In the previews for next week’s episode, it shows the back of a plane opening up and a reporter is telling them that they are being referred to as the Oceanic 6.

Karen – I agree. I don’t think the captain was a bad guy, along with Frank and the Doctor. There seem to be some divisions on the boat just like on the island.

Jones – I was also wondering what he had on his arm. It could be something to do with keeping the smoke away, but he also showed it to the captain of the boat when he was about to shoot and it made him stop and think twice about it.

Adam – I don’t think Sayid will be the one to kill Penny. I think Ben will use him to kill everyone except her. I think he will want to do that one personally for revenge on Alex’s death.

10

Jones – I thought the same thing about the relative time, only my thought had to do with the dead doctor. So the doctor dies, then all the men with guns pile into the helicopter and take off to the island.

Then…

Whilst jack is nipping out for a bite to eat, they all see said helicopter flying over them. But they found the doctor days before then (at least before Jack had appendicitis anyway). So my question is: did the dead doctor travel BACK in time (i.e. before jack was ill) or did the helicopter travel FORWARD in time?

11

um hello did we all forget that we already know who Locke’s father is? It’s not Widmore or Alpert, people. It’s the swindler who pushed him out of the building, took his kidney, and swindled Sawyer’s parents… awesome episode though. interesting idea about the island not letting locke die before he gets to the island

12

That wasn’t his real dad. He was tricking John just like he did Sawyers Mom.

I think his dad is Alpert.

13

Which object do you think Alpert wanted him to choose?

14

I don’t understand why everybody can see Claire while she’s dead o.O Or maybe Jacob is inside her body or something, Idk, but it’s something strange.
I now don’t think Claire is alive anymore bhupi, unless you’re right that she was brainwashed.

Imo it’s also weird about Christian, is he dead or alive? I assume he’s dead, returning from the dead is TOO much, curing a disease is one thing, but…

TheObiJuan, I doubt the island will be moved in the sky. Of course it’s somewhat fantasy already, but how would they do that at all?

Jones, could be right about the secondary protocol. Although he said “you don’t want to do that” when the captain wanted to shoot him, so maybe it will destroy the people surrounding him like some kind of bomb or something? (Just like Scott said).

15

Who is alpert?

16

I think he wanted him to choose the Book of Laws. I believe this book was also shown in an Eko flashback as well as being the book that the first orientation video was hidden in inside the Swan (I could be wrong about that though).

Alpert is Richard’s last name. The guy who never seems to age.

17

Just looked at the sneak peak for There’s no place like home check the clothes that they are wearing as the aircraft door opens sayid and jack are both in Blazers(Jackets) wonder where they got the change of clothes from

18

Hey guys. I’ve read a lot of the comments here and I found this theory that answers alot of your questions ( and mine too) it’s definitely one to think about. http://www.timelooptheory.com/the_timeline.htm

19

Excellent recap as usual. Well this episode totally blew me away, i just cant get enough of it. Is the appearance of Christian and Claire not just Jacob taking on there form. He seems to be able to be whoever he wants. Could they possibly move the island by altering the time difference maybe, just one theory been thrown around my workplace today !!

20

Walter – I just watched a sneak peek of There’s No Place Like Home and I didn’t notice matching blazers. At least not on Sayid? Jack just looked like he was wearing a snazzy jacket.

21

I read in somewhere and watched again the scene where Locke meets Horace in his dream. Watch carefully.. you can see Locke’s scar near his eye moving from right side to left..Any idea why? any theories?

As for moving the island, i think it is moving it to another time, maybe future or past so that the present can’t see it.

22

Michelle – Wow! Thanks for that link. That is one heck of a fascinating theory. I love it!

Karen – Aaron is definitely one of the Oceanic 6. During the break for the writer’s strike, there was a LOST promo that said something to the effect of, “We know who the Oceanic 6 are…” and they flashed to everyone including Aaron. I knew when Kate’s kid turned out to be Aaron that something had to happen to Claire. She would never give him up now (even though she tried to give him up for adoption which is why she was on Oceanic 815).

Scott – I couldn’t remember if Locke’s “Dad” had admitted he was just conning Locke to get his kidney. I feel like he did, but am just not sure. Were you confirming that?

This is my first time reading your Recap, Scott. Great job!

23

Wendy – Yea I’m pretty sure that he admitted it to Locke that he wasnt really his dad. Also, welcome to the site!

24

Hey guys, i found this definition of Reflection in Philopsophy pretty interesting. Not sure if the rest of you will but thought i’d post it anyway. ” Reflection presents to us the operations of our own mind, according to Locke, Essay Concerning Human Understanding 2,1,4, who contrasts it with sensation, by which we have sensory impressions from external things. Sensation and reflection are the two sources for all our ideas, according to Locke. ”

I wonder if moving the island refers to altering a magnetic field or other element? Physically moving it sounds oddly stupid to me to be honest!

25

Sorry i meant to say thats John Locke 1632-1704

26

Duke – I just watched the scene again, and your right. It does look like the scar switched sides at one point near the end of the conversation.

27

Scott where are the previews for next week!!! Eek more more more!!!

28

The oddest thing about the doctor showing up on the island is that he would have to float in on bearing 305. I’m pretty sure that would be friggin impossible….No ones getting me to buy the traveling on bearing 305 if some guy washes up on shore and would have to follow that bearing to do so. So someone messed up with that on the writers staff. Anyone else on board with that.

The preview for next week does show them on a cargo plane type thing the back end opening up and someone telling them….They are refering to you as the Oceanic 6. If you listen to the person telling them this it seems to be like they are being coached on it. Also when the plane opens it looks like the 6 are taken back by who is there waiting. That could just be good editing tho. At first I thought the plane opened to the 6 looking at themselves…like clones or something but again that was just first impression and I havent seen it again.

I think that Alpert is also Lockes father. Because his flashback takes place 50 years prior give or take. His father in his other flashbacks looks like he would not be much older than his mom in the most previous flashback. He was described as being much older than the Lockes mom. Alpert did look much older than his mother however.

Why was the knife the bad sign for him tho?

Also I think the island goes through periods of time with a ruler (for lack of a better word. First was whidmore possibly then ben, now locke and then possibly Walt….who has been described as special and seemed to have a connection to locke.

29

Adam, i believe that maybe only time travel happens when one doesn’t go on the bearing 305. I mean, maybe the doctor did not float on the bearing 305 so then he is pushed back on time. Also, to explain then why Sayid, Desmond, and Pilot guy (Lapidus (?)) got travel back or forth in time is because the storm made them go off the bearing 305 so they were pushed back or forth in time. That might explain the time theory… I hope. Second, I refuse to believe that claire is dead, because then how could aaron be traveling across the island w/out her holding him. Seems so very implausible to me. Also, I think that the island has just “chosen” her and ma

30

yep top episode altho i new it would be to good to be true that we would see jacob.

31

I think the line between the living and the dead is very blurred on the island. I would think its possible that Claire could be dead and still carry Aaron. Sawyer was able to carry her when he was doing his jesse james thing. Does anyone know what keamy had on his arm before he shot the captain? When did we find out anthony cooper definitely wasn’t lockes dad??

32

I think that thing on Keamey’s arm was some kind of life detector linked to Widmore. So if anyone kills Keamey, Widmore will know. Although that seems like a dull theory by Lost standards.

Alpert seems like a freaky strange man. What would he be doing frolicking with a silly 15 year old and becoming father to her child?

Adam – the person saying “People are referring to you as the Oceanic 6″ sounds like a news reporter. She has that annoying nasal tone that most news reporters have. Just a guess though.

But I do agree that the people that approach the plane when it opens up do appear strange.

33

Thanks Kat! Perhaps when Widmore knows Keamy is dead he might do something to the ship? Although the Captain didn’t know about it which seemed unusual.

Was the ’secondary protocol’ a map to the temple? Would it not be wiser to get all of the others off the island?

Also when Hurley asked what happened to the dharma people and Locke said he did pointing at ben, ben answered it wasn’t my decision it was their leaders-who did he mean by that? Richard, Jacob or Widmore?

34

I think the device on keeney is some sought or detanator for a bomb or explosives as he says he is going to torch the island so maybe if he is killed the detonator automatically goes off . When the lady says the are reffering to you as the Oceanic 6 they are defenetliy wearing diffrent clothes so they must have been given this by a recue team off some sort

35

Interesting theory on Alpert being Locke’s actual father…(I will keep an open mind about this one…I like it’s direction).

It’s great how the writters reference many other movies, authors etc. For those who may not know or may have forgotten this is just a humble reminder there have been many references to the “Wizard of Oz”….

Third season episode: “Man Behind the Curtain”
Third season episode “Flashes Before Your Eyes” Desmond sees something fall on a person and his legs are sticking out from underneath (like the house falling on the wicked which from the east)

…..Eitherway… keep a watchful eye for the writters to use this “Wizard of Oz” reference in the next episode for some clues to answers….

36

Could it be Albert was upset because Locke at a young age revealed to him that his destiny was different then what Albert expected? As Ben said…”Destiny is a Fickle B*%$#!”.

37

The island has already confirmed to Locke that he is a “Hunter” through Ecko season three “Further Instructions”. Locke in that same episode first said…”I was a hunter…I…I am a hunter”.

Eitherway, the knife had to be the right choice…Albert is just being a “fickle B*#$!”

38

I agree that the lady announcing they are refering to you etc is a guide of some sort or a reporter.

I also have to ask ( sorry for the million questions!) about Abbadon! As he encouraged Locke to do this walkabout tour, he was obviously leading Locke on his journey to the island. Was he on the island for his miracle too? And as he was on a walkabout he would have known that Locke wouldn’t be able to do it as he was in a wheelchair. After that he was on 815 leading him to the island. As Abbadon (which is the destroyer in Hebrew, the language of Jacob i think?) `seemed in his appearances before like he was just a guy who assigned the operation, does this show he has a personal link to the island?

I find it interesting that Charlotte an Daniel went to such effort to turn off the lethal gas-for what? So that Keamy can blow them all up? Are we sure they actually turned it off and didn’t alter the program? It seems really odd that a group of people from the same boat would be given different missions of saving people so they could all be blown up. How come the boat hasn’t bothered contacting Charlotte and Daniel, are they dumping them on the island? Why aren’t Charlotte and Daniel worried about this?

39

I think the people of science on the island….Daniel and Charlotte were probably told much like frank that is wasn’t a mission for killing but for discovery and extraction. The captain seems like he was also lead to believe that. Daniel and Charlotte seem to also have more knowledge than they let on. I think they are their for their science alone and aren’t aware of the bigger plan or don’t want to be apart of it.

I don’t know if I like the dead or alive thing on the show (if thats the case). Just seems weak to me. I was much more into the time difference, time travel, time warp story lines. The show is a huge puzzle and they only give you bits and pieces of it at a time. So its hard to gauge what the overall scope is.

40

Lolo:
I am pretty sure the they disabled the gas so that it could not be used against them, i.e. Ben use the gas again to kill everyone on the island except himself.

I am still not convinced that Widmore was the one that put that plane on the bottom of the ocean. Was there any actual confirmation of this besides the documents that Tom showed Michael. In the conversation between Frank and Michael, Frank says something about a conspearicy when Michael mentions about the plane.
Also, I am from Canada and on http://www.ctv.ca you can watch full episodes(it’s a Canadian TV station). Not sure if it will work for people outside Canada but it would probably be worth a try.

41

This is an awesome site and i enjoy reading all the posts and the recaps very much.

i think Richard is Jacob or working for Jacob/Island. he is the one who helped Ben kill the initial DI members. he is the one who was trying to recruit Juliet. looks like he also monitored John’s life. He and Abanddon are continuosly tring to get people(Hurley – even after he got out of the Island and John) onto the Island. Who was the one who made Ben’s dad sign up for the DI? I don’t recall.

I wonder where he is now when all this happening? What is he doing? Is he at the Temple with the rest of the others?

looks like only people with special powers can see the cabin.Until now only Ben,Hurley and John can see it.

42

Great site Scott.

What an ending. Moving the island – why not! Guess they’ll use the same method as they do for moving the cabin, so obviously not physically moving it heheh.

I think they’ve done an impressive job with the boat scenes, and great soundtrack too. When Sayid leaves the boat on the zodiac, did anyone notice the music? fairly sure it was straight from Jaws. Wonder if they consulted John Williamson on that one..

43

Jones – tried that site. Its for canada only.. to bad :(

Scott – In that dream Locke’s scar changes sides twice i guess.

Lolo – Interestign that Abaddon means Destroyer in Hebrew. My friend says Abaddon has a resemblance to smoke monster. lol

44

I didn’t notice the scar changing…what could that be?

45

Ah. Yea his dad could be him, would create a real relationship between them then.. But did his mother’s mother knew his dad?

Kat, maybe they didn’t wear MATCHING blazers, just both blazers..

Scott, could you upload the sneak peeks here?

I think the knife was the wrong choice BECAUSE it pointed out he is a hunter: he wouldn’t stand under Richard’s lead, but would be a leader on his own, killing people in his way or something.

pri, Ben’s dad is dead. He killed him himself in a car with gas.

46

Watch any episode of lost for free, no downloadsm registration fees etc. on http://www.surfthechannel.com

47

I now noticed the scar changing as well. It changed when Horace was introducing himself again, it changed twice.

Very weird, no idea why.

48

Not to change the subject, but to reference the whole “access to the island via bearing 305″ theory.

If this is the case and this specific bearing is the only way to get to the island, then obviously the people in charge of those random supply drops must have knowledge of this bearing. Otherwise how else would they so conveniently be able to make continuous supply drops of DI supplies, or simply be able to return to the island time after time.
(granted we have only seen the one supply drop being made while the 815 surviviors were on the island, in season 2 “Lockdown”)

49

I agree with Adam about the changing ruler theory. Walt is special as told by Ben. i think he will be the next ruler in the island just like John is now.have to figure out how he will return back from NYC.

only four people have seen the pit full of dead bodies – Ben,John,Walt and Hurley.

also John was really good at throwing knives at boars in the first season and he taught Walt the trick too. same with the backgammon game. there is def some connection.

noticed something – Ben’s mom’s name is Emily same like John’s.Ben’s dad’s name is Roger Linus like Roger Horace. are they just common names or do they have a special meaning. idk.

in my prev post i meant to say that i think Ben’s dad was brought to the island so Ben could get there.

i think Keamy is a suicide bomber. maybe he is already dead – killed by the smoke monster, who knows, anything can happen in lost….lol :-)

50

Roger Horace’s nose was bleeding just like Desmond’s and Minkowski’s noses were in Constant. I know it was something to do with being at two different places and each vying for the other. Is this a matter to be taken into consideration. sorry guys im just throwing all questions out there. Lost is so intriguing and im so curious to know more abt it. :-)

51

Pri, i don’t think that walt actually saw the pile of dead bodies. That maybe was a vision of Walt and it was really Jacob. You know how Jacob may take many different forms. Also, about the supply drop, do you think that that was actually the others that put it there in the middle of the night and put it by the hatch with a blinking sign. Cause, i think it is a little to weird for the dharma initiative to still think that people still work there. I think it was the others and they were showing a sign of kindness.

52

Abbadon! EVERYONE!!!!! don’t forget…. ABBADON went to visit Hurley in the Hospital and he asked Hurley where the rest of the Oceanic 815 survivors were!!! What was that all about? is Abbadon really working with Ben and them? Notice how we have only seen him on the show off the island and not on the island…

Another thing to keep open with that being said…Locke has a grand history of being manipulated for others ill gotten gains…

I am not bring these things up for answers they are just observations. Anyone else notice these things???

53

PRI!!! YOU ARE RIGHT!!! (NOSE THING)

54

pri:
are you talking about Horace Goodspeed, cause I think you may have the names confused unless I missed something. He was the one who helped Roger Linus on the road after Ben was born and he gave Roger the job on the island which is the reason Ben is on the island.

55

i dont understand Abbadon’s position in all of this, at one stage he was recruiting a group to go on the island, when he was talking to the naomi in the office and she was complaining she could not work with the team provided…..and on the other hand he is directing Locke in a roundabout way to the island. The talk of him being linked to jacob cannot be true either, as he is always off the island…and it wouldn’t explain why he recruited a group to go their in the 1st place.

Another issue, slightly off the point, does anybody actually know how Locke’s father go on2 the island because that seems 2 have become a forgotten issue. I’m sure the submarine had been blown up at that stage, so the only way he could possibly get on is the same way Ben managed to get off and find himself in the middle of the desert.

56

Thanks Duke!

Ben said he came by ‘magic box’! Anthony Cooper (Lockes Dad) said he was in a car accident and saw people smiling while loading him into an ambulance then he woke up on the island. The others said afterwards that they had brought Cooper to the island.

There is obviously another way on and off the island that few people know about as Ben and Richard seem to move freely but Juliet believed that the submarine was the only way and they’re now stuck.

I think the nose bleeds are referring to brain trauma. Minkowski and Desmond both experienced side effects from the time travelling. Probably Horace had a nose bleed because he’s dead. I would imagine being dead for 12 years and reappearing to have someone go through dead bodies at the mass grave where you are buried to search through your pockets and then leg it off to find a mmysterious cabin-might be a little stressful on the ole head.

As for Abbadon, as we have never seen him on the island we cannot assume he has never been on the island. He might have been off island while the submarine blew up and believes he can’t get back??

I’m still thinking moving the island could be moving/ altering a magnetic field or changing the bearing. In Alvar Hanso’s and Widmore’s search for it they had been checking the shipping lanes the black rock took and the black rock is on it so physically its in the same place it was since the black rock had been there.

57

Not that the writers always pay attention to reality (but usually they are pretty accurate) but “Everyday,” was written and produced for 1957. If that’s true… then Miss Emily Locke must have given birth after that.

Ben Linus was born most likely in 1961-3 (based on production notes), so that makes their ages closer than most people would realize.

58

I think Abbadon has to double bluffing here because it totally does not make sense

1. He is with John telling him to go on the walkabout

2. His is supposedly working with Widmore in getting together a team for the frighter

3.He then visit’s hurley after hurley returns back from the island wanting to know if anyone left on the island is still alive (Surley if the freighter people were the ones who got them off the island or indeed survived the island itself he would have known this information)

My thoughts are the keeney and his crew don’t make it off the island or indeed anyone from the frighter The oceanic 6 are rescued by a diffrent boat plane or something

Abbadon either used to work for the DI or Jacob / Ben, then deffected to Widmore’s camp that is the only reason I can tghink that he would encourage John to do the trip leading him to the island and then recriut a team that is paid for and funded by widmore

One last observation does anyone remember when Daniel Farrider was watching the news that showed the palne at the bottom of the ocean he was crying and very upset and he was asked why ?

60

Maybe he knew his time to meet Desmond again was coming? Remember the two of them are each others constants and he had already met Desmond at his college by then.

61

Walter – I agree that it’s not the freighter people who rescue the 6. I think it’ll be Penny, or they use the helicopter to get away.

The freighter people don’t look like they have any intention of saving anyone, and all the good guys on the boat keep getting knocked off, so I think Abaddon and the freighter won’t be involved with their rescue.

62

paticimo,

I believe that Jack and Kate saw the supply drops blinking beacon falling from the sky. But either way I dont think it at all possible for the others to have placed the drop pallets there. How would they have been moved? And why would the others show any kindness after they had already threatened the survivors to stay away? I dont think that makes sense.

Also Walter, I wondered why Farrady was crying when he saw the footage. My original thought was that he had known somebody on that flight. Most likely nothing to do with Desmond since how would anyone know he was on the island to begin with since he was shipwrecked there?

the question about Locke’s dad being on the island was never answered, and it has been one that has bothered me ever since that episode first aired. It seemed to convenient that he was there. I bet they will never address that issue again.

63

I believe the Oceanic 6 will be discovered on the boat Sayid has…he will rescue them and take try to take them to the freightor….

64

Thanks Jason.

Paticimo I think u are right about the Others dropping the food. Because in the last episode I remember Ben saying Hurley something about they(Others) making the ranch that he ate or something to that effect.

yes i think im getting confused with all these Horaces, Rogers and Emilies. they should try to keep names unique. Understanding lost is one thing but keeping up these names is a whole big deal by itself. lol.

Kat,me too think it will be Penny to the rescue. She will def try to come rescue Desmond.

65

Abbadon is an odd character I agree with Jason. He seems to want people to go to the Island but at the same time he was putting together whidmores team to kill everyone on the island. Maybe like someone else said he played john, everyone else has he is such a sucker. His thought process could be he will show us the way to the island. So maybe Abbadon is trying to double cross Locke and just try to come across as this great guy. He was a little rough on Hurley. I think he is a bad guy when it all comes out.

66

What about juliette Im thinking she could be the one in the casket also. Kate wouldnt care about it, so that makes sense in the scene by the airport a few seasons ago.

67

I agree with Jason and Adam, Abbadon is the key element.

I think he is trying to set up Locke in the Island by suggesting a walkabout and then team up with Widmore to kill everyone in the Island(including Locke).

I think so because he did seem like he was gonna push Locke down those stairs. It seemed like he wanted to harm Locke.

But I dont know why he would have a grudge on Locke.

Do Abbadon and Richard know each other?

68

Jason Im not sure if 5 plus a child will fit on the raft that Sayid is driving plus I can’t imagine the circumstance where Sun and Jin make the decsion for one to leave the other ? Surley if it was a choice Jack sayid or Hurley would have given there space knowing she was pregnant. Also from the Ji Long episode it is weird that a non crazy Hurley is the only one that travels to Korea to see Sun after the baby is born from one of the episodes I remember Juliet saying Sun was in the second trimester so you waould estimate a maximum of 5 months between her leaving the island and having the baby and Hurley turning up to visit Jin’s grave(Fake).Im still think that some other mode of transport other than the frighter is the one that rescues them. Anyone remember anything about the boat/team that found the airplane atthe bottom of the ocean ?

69

I don´t think Farrady was crying because he knew someone on that flight. Didn´t he say ´I don´t know´ when another person asked him why he was crying?

Adam, I read somewhere it is Ben in the coffin. Although I wouldn’t think he’d be it considering Sayid is working for him *-)

70

Maybe they could only get 5 adults on the raft and the 5 plus Aaron were simply the first ones. Either Keamy could have gotten to the orchid or Locke and Ben could have ‘moved’ the island before they got to go back and then they weren’t able to go back??

I wonder if moving the island is moving the bearing to get on the island?

71

Not sure if this post is related to the subject:

Does anybody remember that when Penny was searching for the Island she was with her team of explorers in a polar region(Artic or Antartic, latter most probably). y was she searching there? are the island locations showing to the polar region?

and the polar bears in the Island and polar bear remains in the desert(did the polar bears teleport as well…lol).

Does this serve as a clue for Ben teleporting to the Tunisian desert in a Parka?

I think mayb the Island was previously in a cold region, I think moving the Island would mean change the bearing/lat/long or something like that. but i dont how it will be possible. it would be stupid(unless otherwise it is global warming or something that turned it into a tropical island in such a short time, if so they must be kidding us for sure…lol).

72

Melissa Im with the Ben theory who else would have no one turn up to there funeral no family no friends. Also Ben has seemed recentley to except his time is over as the leader of the others and maybe this has some bearing

Lolo from the clips of tomorros episode I think Keamy makes it back to the island as it shows the helicopter fly over the island .Lapidus the pilot seems like he is a good guy so I think he will help in some way as he has already tried with Michael and by dropping the Sat phone.

Here hoping tomorrow reveals alot of answers without posing tons of questions

73

yeah tomorrow’s episode is gonna be very exciting.

Locke better “move” the island fast else Keamy’s gonna get them all. :-)

74

now we can all be one of the Losties:

http://www.neighborhoodies.com/dharma-initiative-p-236.html

lol

75

pri:
not sure if you know but there is a site: http://www.lostpedia.com that I find great for keeping all the names right and you can find out just about anything you want on any person from lost or episodes.
I think by moving the island it means to shift the magnetic field in the island which in turn would change the bearing at which you most approach it to see it. (i.e. change magnetic field, change the bearing 305). Only a thought but thats what I think.
As for how people get off, I think it will be the freighter but not with the freighter people. I think Michael will fix the engine and either via the helicopter or zodiac they will get back to the frighter. I don’t really have a theory on why the people that get off, get off, or why the people that stay, stay. Next episode I think will be a big one, it will have to answer all the “how do they get off the island” questions and I don’t see how they can get around telling us how Hurley and Aaron got back with the other group.

76

Does anyone think in the flash forwards that Ben killed Sayid’s wife so that he could get Sayid to help him flush out all of Whitmore’s guys and find Penelope ? What do you think about this thread in the storyline ?

77

Thanks Jones. i did check it out……the index itself was so thorough. it is very a good reference.

78

Yes walter, it does sound possible, but then how is it with Sayid? Does he die after he gave him lots of assignments or something?

Roxanne, that would be a smart move of Ben, but then who is the guy Sayid killed?

79

If it comes down to a vote on who gets on the raft…how the hell does Hurley make the cut….dont want to sound like Jonnie Dk-head but you take hurley off the raft and you possibly fit 2-3 more people. I’m just saying.
I dont think how they get off is all that important. We all know at some point they get on a plane and are flown back to the US. Its either in the helicopter or penny’s people….thats my guesses.

Maybe they ride the smoke monster off!!!

Walter -
I do think there is a case the Sun and Jin split…..if one of them dies. Regardless if you believe the headstone in that episode was really for his death or not. It already seems like Jin is going to stay. When he told Charlotte….make sure Sun gets on the plane or he’ll break Daniels fingers.

80

I’m positive its Michael in the coffin, the ad said survived by a son in new york. Michael and Walt aren’t speaking so he might not want to go to the funeral. Maybe the island let Michael die after he got the oceanic 6 off the island?

81

Adam your idea about escape via the smoke monster is the best i ever heard! You should be a lost writer!

82

WALTER….SEE THE PREVIEW Scott just put up today…. Sayid just said to the Losties when he pulled that he is going to take groups of 6…

83

Lolo….how in the world did you see that??? Is there a still shot of it? When I tried to freeze the picture I couldn’t see a thing. If it did say that then chalk it up for you on that one.

Roxanne-My stomach has had feel for that as well.

84

I think John and Ben are half brothers. Both had moms named Emily. John was born to a 16 year old give or take, and Ben was born to a woman in her mid to late tweenties. John looks to me to be about ten or so years older than Ben. I dont think Richard is the father I think he was Jacobs right hand man. When Ben got older he became the right hand man thats why Richard was taking orders from Ben. Now its Johns turn. As for Richard never ageing, when Horace was killed in season 3 by Ben he looked the same as he did when Ben was born. Maybe none of Dharma age. Just somethings i was thinking. Two questions about last week. 1-Did anybody pause on the doctor delivering John cause it looks like Keemy behind the mask, or is it someone with just another big head. 2-When Emilys mom turns around and sees Richard looking in the nursery after being asked if he was the father was his eyes completely blacked out white part and all. Dont have tivo.

85

Jason i totally read your message wrong and thought it said ben would chalk me up-after major confusion and looking over my shoulder i see what it means!!! I saw a frozen shot on the net, i’ll have a check to see if i can still find it.

Eric Bens mother is dead and Johns is still alive and they look very different so unless they have the same father i doubt they’re half brothers.

I’m not sure about reading too much into adult characters not ageing. Its common for different child actors to play different ages of a character but not as common for adult characters. Its possible that none of the others age but it also might be a problem of the difficulties of casting.

Anybody fancy a group holiday to Hawaii!!!

86

I think Ben and Locke don’t look like because they’re actors

87

alike, not like

88

sayid sayin 6 can fit on was to throw people off track, asif jack would be one of the first people to get off the island, he would stay and let others leave first. they wont get off the island in the season i dont think. The nose bleeds is to do with the time-travelling i believe, i also think it is michael in the coffin, Ben can’t die! im starting to dislike jack more and more, his storylines are boring, sawyer ben and locke are the main characters now.

89

Lolo I was looking along the lines John being 10 to 15 years older than Ben with John born first and then she died giving birth to Ben. I dont think Anderson Cooper was Johns father nor was that his mother in season 2 who said she was his mother. I think she was part of the con to get his kidney. Is there another episode saying that his mother was still alive?

90

Toby

91

Toby – they are def going to get off the island in this season….maybe even in this episode…the writers are smart they will find a way for everyone to tell jack he has to go and he’s done everything he can…..although i do agree based on his character that he wouldn’t go first if up to me.

92

Maybe the real reason behind the appendectomy was because something goes wrong and now he HAS to leave the island for treatment???

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I am going to try very hard to have the willpower to wait and watch the entire 3-hour finale in 2 weeks when part 2 airs. I don’t think I have the strength, but if I do, I will miss reading everyone’s theories (obviously I can’t come back until I’ve watched the eps)! I had avoided reading message boards prior to Cabin Fever because I knew reading everyone’s thoughts would make my head spin! I will be back after the finale to get lost (pun intended) with you all again!

Scott – thanks for the confirmation!

See you guys in a couple of weeks…

…or tomorrow after my willpower buckles tonight and I watch it. :-P

93

how many eps left this season?

94

Techinically 2. Part 1 of the season finale is tonight and then we wait for Part 2 to air TWO weeks from tonight (Gray’s 2-hour season finale is next week).

In total, there are 3 hours left (one tonight and two hours on the 29th).

95

:( does anyone know when season 5 is due to be aired? if they do get off the island the next 3 seasons would then be based off the island?

96

Season 5 starts January 09 with 17 episodes.

97

Also, Toby, there are only 2 more seasons left. Season 5 will focus on why the 6 need to get back to the island and the final season, season 6, will be them going back.

98

Eric, what do you mean with the doctor delivering John? Where should that be in the episode?

Wendy, that would be a really good reason why Jack has to go.

99

ah ok, i thought there were 7 seasons! thats why I assumed that they wouldn’t get off the island this season!

100

ERIC!!!! WOW….YOU COULD BE ON TO SOMETHING HERE!!!! THIS IS GREEEAAAAT!!! …. Especially since the island slows time down…Ben could have been passed up in years.

101

Lolo!!!! A HAWAII MEETING WOULD BE GREAT!!! Jan 09!!!! for the season premier!!!

102

i take it that statue with the toes is never gona get addressed then. :(

103

Eric/Jason – I wouldn’t be surprised it that was pretty close to what will happen. Unless the writers forgot, I suspect there would have to be a reason both mothers have the same name. I don’t think there are too many coincedences on this show! ;)

104

And a Hawaii excursion would be AWESOME!

105

Pri- I think the nose thing with Horace could be a symbol of him being gassed (side effect).
As far as Ben and John being brothers. I don’t know that seems like a stretch but with lost anything is possible. I know they have this whole duality thing going on the show and Biblically Jacob was one of two brothers from Isaac. Jacob was the trickster and Esau was the hunter. Sounds a lot like Ben and John.
FYI the writers have said they get some references from the Bible. Not just throwing that in there for no reason.

106

Messeis – Thats some good comparisons right there. Nice job 8)

107

“I think the nose thing with Horace could be a symbol of him being gassed (side effect).” – very good point Messeis, I entirely forgot about that!

108

The others admitted to bringing Lockes dad there themselves.

Wendy and Jason-see you guys in Hawaii so!!! I’m coming from Ireland, what about you?

I’m so flippin mad that Lost season 5 isn’t being aired until Jan 09, thats ridiculous, by the time that comes around i’ll be over lost and addicted to something else, then i’ll fall back in love with lost again and be brokenhearted when sseason 5 is over and i’m left waiting another 6 months for season 6 then it will be all gone :( …i’m aware i have a slow social life guys!

I’m still wondering about the thing on Keamys arm, he seemed to be using it as a threat to the captain ( who was incredibly hot by the way!) so i’m thinking its something linked to the freighter not the island. I know Charlotte and Daniel went to disable the gas, what i don’t get is why the same person would send them to disable gas and another person to blow everyone up anyway. Whats the point? Could just let Ben gas everyone and Widmore wouldn’t have to be writing so many cheques for Mercenaries

109

Lolo – I’d be coming from the great state of Texas! Yee haw! OK, seriously?!?! Where did that come from? LOL! No, I am NOT a cowgirl! Heck (um, did that sound cowgirl-ish???), maybe I’ll come check Ireland out and then head with you to Hawaii!! I’ve always wanted to visit both places.

I know what you mean! Lost does it to me every year with the looooooooooooooonnnnggg hiatus. I hate it!!

I’m glad to hear someone else thinks the captain is hot, but am I alone in thinking “Mc”Keamy (little nod to Grey’s Anantomy for you) is attractive too?? He can go shirtless and I’ll strap that mysterious contraption on him any day! LOL! Sorry to the guys on the board!!!

OK, so assuming I don’t give in to the temptation, I will see you guys again in a couple of weeks. Really, I just know they’re going to leave us with a semi-major cliffhanger for 2 weeks and then leave us with a major cliffhanger for more than SIX months, so I am trying to limit the amount of torture I allow Lost to heap on me! I may very well be back tomorrow. I’ve always been a glutton for punishment. :)

Enjoy the show tonight!!!

110

Oh yeah, the captain, Keamy and Sawyer are phwoar!!! Jack as a character is really not doing it for me anymore, why isn’t he dead by now!!! I miss Charlie!!

111

Loving the yee haw, have a few drinks it will make sense then!!!

112

Melissa it shows a male doctor delivering John during the first half of cabin fever. Zoomed on his face twice for only about two seconds. He has on a doctors mask but It kinda looks like Keamy.

113

Ah in the hospital/rehab or something?
That would be a good point o.O Never noticed it myself

Btw, was it known that Faraday is taken from “Michael Faraday” already? Just found out by looking up the invention of the TV for my english presentation xD
Michael Faraday (1791-1867)
British physicist and chemist, best known for his discoveries of electromagnetic induction and of the laws of electrolysis. His biggest breakthrough in electricity was his invention of the electric motor.

114

Messeis – awesome comparison.i too think that Ben and John are half brothers. i had this suspicion ever seen the last eposisode where John’s mom’s name was revealed as Emily.

115

Messies – I agree. Well done on the Biblical comparison. We know that the writers do extract a lot of ideas from the Bible, so you’re probably on the right track.

Eric – I can see why you’d think the doctor could be Keamey, but I’m trying to think how in the world they could make that work. He’s not special or anything to do with the island, he’s just a thug with a gun. But if they make it work, then hats off to them!

116

i think im missing something….because i dont understand how Keamy knows about the C4. Isnt Michael the only one with knowledge of the C4? please clarify.thanks.

117

LOLO…. FOUND IT….

http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/Newspaper_clipping

Pretty interesting stuff…but we will still have to wait and see. WOW…..

118

As a military guy i’d say Keamy would have easy knowledge of C4???

Jason i saw it on a different website and it definitely read survived by a son. I’m not sure if it said the son was in New York or the man was from New York now that i see it. Good work finding the article.

Apparently the actor who plays Desmond was seen filming at a funeral home dressed in a black suit, he could be there paying his respects to the deceased but the outfit is a typical coffin outfit too, since i read the writers saying the article wasn’t meant to give any clues i’m not sure anymore!

119

Scott, i really love your recaps ! why haven’t you done any for season 5 ?
