Lost Season 5 To Begin in 2009

Lost season 4 is finally drawing near. I for one hope that when season 4 is finished that the producers of Lost have learned their lesson. WE DONT WANT TO WAIT 6 MONTHS FOR LOST SEASON 5 TO START!

  4. I’m not really sure about this. season 4′ first episode is titled “The beginning of the end”. It’s supposed to be the first episode of the last series, or at least this is what I suppose… I mean, “the beginning (EPISODE 1) of the end (SERIES 4)”… it sounds something like “The end is not near, it’s here” (the o.c. finale), so it should apply in a similar way.
    I’m not sure I’m writing in good english and I’m less sure you’ll be able to understand what I’m saying, anyway, I think lost will end with s4.
    But it is the greatest show ever !

  7. There are supposed to be 6 seasons of lost. It might not all take place on the island. Presumably there is a conclusion from the flas forwards and perhaps the oceanic 6 will return to the island in season 5/6.

  13. i cant wait tht long either but then again season 4 hasnt finished yet and the actors and crew do need a break and to film season 5 AND the writers are ment to be goin on yet another strike and even if they wasnt on strike working on a drama series like lost wud be a very hard series to write for seen as u gotta to remember so many things etc

    i dont understand this at all. i have been watching lost from season one and after every season someone makes the biggest deal out of the time frame of the season. last season they bit(H about the 6 epi. then the long brake. Season one and two people hated that there were reruns every other week are so. I know lost is great but i personal like them all together so i dont mind waiting till next jan. 52 episodes a season would be nice but 36 of them would be fillers.

  22. Well, I watched boxed sets for season 1 and 2, seasons 3 and 4 weekly as they came, and I have to tell you that the gap kills my brain cells trying to recap everything. I am still trying to work out Jack’s Dad and the Claire thing! I would pay to watch season five earlier. The twists and plot thickening just grabs you and keeps you on your toes….>EXCELLENT viewing, and the only programme I watch in the week.

  24. We cannot wait ’til 2009 for Season 5. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE writers, producers this is just the best programme ever, it is the only reason I pay for my TV licence. I have Seasons 1, 2 and 3 DVDs and eagerly await Season 4 DVD but please don’t make us wait! Lost is the highlight of my week, I am totally immersed in the show. You are the best!!!!!

  28. Lost is finishing in 2010 and there is 7 seasons. Season 5 will have 28 episodes to make up for the shortage in season 4. Oh my gosh it freaked me out when Hurley said “Check mate Mr. Ecko” Hurley is goin to play a big part in the next season aswell!

  31. The quality of the writing and producing doesn’t come quickly, people. Considering each episode is like a mini movie, it’s no wonder it takes time to film each one. Just relax and the next 7 months will fly by. You have no choice but to wait till 2009 so just find something else to focus on for a few months!

  32. I can’t believe theres going to be another 2 series of Lost, The creaters who created Lost are lost themseleves, So we have to sit and wait on what answeers and what happens in the next two series of Lost, It should of ended at Series 4, Lost is becoming boring

  33. Simon – There will only be 6 seasons total, so we only have 2 left. The two remaining seasons will have 17 episodes. They were originally supposed to have 16, but we lost 2 this season due to the writers’ strike.

  34. If the producers make us wait for too long, we will likely to forget about the show, regardless the intensity and excitement it has generated.

    Six months is a long time.

    There maybe another series out by then that will make us forget all about Lost season 5….

    Honestly, i didn’t feel more enlightened about the show after watching Season 4… and I didn’t feel excitement while watching it like I did with the first three seasons…

    I think that has to do with having to wait for too long…

    I like JJ Abrams…but I think his whole approach to Lost is wrong….

    Such story oline can work for the first three seasons…after that if it doesn’t end, it gets more confusing, while its audience will develop a nonchalant attitude towards the show….

    I know many people who followed Lost initially, stopped following the series after the Third season….

    Frankly, although I am curious to know the ending, I am not anxious anynmore about Season 5.

    Why?

    The reason is simple: no matter how much you whine and pine, Season 5 is not going to run tomorrow….

    During the next six months, our lives is going to be filled with concerns over other priority issues and thrilled by other new series and movie releases…..so much so that Lost Season 5, no matter how promising it will be, will pale in comparison….

    The producers of Lost could have ended the series in the Third Season…and that can be done by chopping off lot of unnecessary flashback scenes in season One and Two….

    Now in the Fourth season and Fifth seasons scheduled to be released in 2009 and 2010, it looks like we have to exercise with more patience.

    Well it looks like the producers of Lost and JJ Abrams underestimated the excitement the spectre is likely to generate.

  35. I love LOST, but I have to say I feel cheated on this series as it was sooo short. With the writers strike in the middle, the two halves were over too quickly, no sooner your into it it ends!
    Now we’ve got, like, forever until the next series starts.
    Please give us smaller gaps and longer series’! Thanks!

    I think that if the Death Star had a smoke monster that the Rebels would not of been able to blow it up. I believe that this Lost Island is where the Dark Jedi came from and the smoke monster is the original Sith Lord. Thats all I got to say!

Well i completely disagree with all of you, i think all seasons have been good, i thought the finale to season 4 was the best finale out of them all, i’m not one to feel emotional but, when desmond was reunited with Penny i nearly had a tear in my eye haha! I just thought that the last episode was fantastic, couldn’t of asked for more. Season 4 itself, i think started off rather slow but it got better i think, and ended brilliantly JJ Abrams shud give themself a pat on the back, congrats. As for season 5 i think its going to be quite confusing as the oceanic 6 have left the island, but jack and the others have to go back, i just hope its not a dissapointing series where they spend all series trying to get back on the island.

  42. The truth is lost has left most of us LOST in a world of our own words. I lost the tempo after the first three seasons. I don’t have that ‘elephant’ memory and cannot seem to sew seasons together when the break is TOO LONG. But I’ll watch it even if there are 19 more seasons to come and the next one comes in 2919 (if I’m still alive)!

    The reason for the 8 month break is this. Most shows wrap up near the end of May and begin filming again in Sept. Giving the actors the much needed break they so richly deserve. To make movies / do other projects, spend time with their other half / kids, or travel.

    Then when Lost begins filming in Sept they have 17 episodes to get through before they begin to show the episodes.

    (So there is no repeat episodes every other week)

    It normally takes about two weeks to film a episode / editing etc.

    Then the tv stations have their ratings periods / new seasons and they wait to premiere at the end of Jan / begin of Feb during Sweeps.

    I am Biola Michael from Nigeria, i really love to Congratulate the directors and or the paticipants of the LOST from season 1 up to 4. It was a a wonderful job, but my problem now is that i i’am actually lost right now nd it take season 5 to find myself out in the jungle of lost. I don’t think i can’t really wait for 2009. becuase the film had chnage a lot of things in my life, such as my world view, my precept, my thinking, everything almost everything that i could not mention here, until i get season5.

  50. These are some of the stupidest comments I’ve ever read on a blog! Not all, but most. As if you won’t be interested anymore if you have to wait 6 months! Also, if they made the episodes quicker to satisfy your impatience, they would be crappy and not worth watching. Think about it. I love the show too, but all good things take time. lol.

  51. Terra, I don’t know why you want everyone to go back to their homes. Most of the characters have disastrous family situations, and stressful, wasted lives. Wasn’t that a main focus? “Why do you you want to leave the island?”

    I believe at the end of episode six all of the characters will return to the island and settle down.

  53. Sawyer and Juilet are going to be together and when kate and jack kate back to the island kate will be heart broken. And kate was talking to Sawyer girlfriend on the telephone when jack came home sawyer whispeared to kate when he jumped BEST SHOW EVER

  54. i agree ryan. this season was spectacular. i was, like you, moved by penny and desmond reuniting. the tension built by the show really made you wonder if desmond was gonna make it. when he wasn’t one of the oceanic six i was worried that he had died but realized that he actually wasn’t part of the flight. and then there was the moment when you thought that he had drowned in the helicopter crash. they really made that reunion suspenseful. however, for me, the most tear-jerking moment in the whole series was charlie’s death. i mean i was MOVED by that COMPLETELY!! that was truly an artistic performance — the writing, the acting, and the directing were all superb!! Dominic Monaghan was amazing. for me, that moment brought out many thoughts about those grand figures in history that were martyrs for others: ghandi, joan of arc, jesus, martin luther king, etc. i personally am not religious but charlie’s heroism sparked a thought in my mind, a quote from the bible where jesus, before being crucified, says “no greater love has anyone than this, that they would lay down their life for their friends.” i mean, charlie, knowing that he was going to die (most martyrs do!), laid his life down for others. man, the guy who came to the island a drug addict completely redeemed himself by sacrificing himself completely for others. i still get chills from watching those last moments when he crosses himself and then floats away!

    I read in an artical that the new lost series will begin on 5th of January and that it will be 17 hours (and not episodes). Each episode is aproximately 41 min. ,so with my calculations 5th and 6th season with have 25 episodes each.
    Unless if the writers were referring as 1 hour the one episode, in this case the word “hour” is used wrong, they should have said “episodes”, that’s why i am optimistic that each 2 last season will contain 24 spisodes.
    I agree that the waiting is too long, but for me the waiting worths a lot, because is the best tv series ever.
    So the best we can do is to discuss what we thing on the 5th season will happen and not complaining about the waiting.

  69. this is rediculous. first the writers strike and now this. how long is the show going to be put off for. Im as big a fan of Lost as anyone…but this is just annoying.
    It was originally only sup. to be 4 seasons long, but they made them extend it to 6 in order to make more money, but it seems to me, sacrificed the quality of the show.

  76. Where have I been!! I started watching “Lost” on the Sci-Fi channel a couple of months ago and now every Monday night for 4 hours I sit glued and don’t speak to anyone in the house. I am positively hooked on this show. Not sure why! But it is addictive. Last night it ended with Jack, Hurley, Kate and Sawyer being led to the “others”? by Michael so he can get his son back….what season am I watching? Sci-Fi does not tell you anything about the seasons. Am I watching season 4? Thanks to someone who answers my question.

  79. Season 2? wow……I have many Monday nights to watch then. I hope Sci-Fi keeps it on until I catch up. I cannot watch season 5 until I see all the rest. And I have to tell you, Gillijay, I HAD no idea until I got on this site and read some posts :( . I am just enthralled at the way the writers lead you to the edge and then jerk you back and you are “LOST”! lol Maybe that’s the idea of “Lost”……keep me lost? I hated reading that Charlie dies……I kind of like the little fella. He’s endearing in his own way. I won’t even go to the idea that this island moves! That is beyond my comprehension thus far! Thanks for your responses and I will hang in there until I’ve seen every single episode. I will say this. It’s great watching 4 episodes in a row on Sci-Fi.

  80. Oh, and ABC says January 21, 2009 is when “Lost” comes back on. I will not be finished with preceding seasons by then, so I can’t watch. Boo hoo. I never read the end of a book first. I’ll just have to wait. But all I read about this island moving just tweaks my interest. I do feel John Locke is a key to something unrevealed thus far. He is so intense and then he acts “dumb” at times. I can’t figure him out. But I like him! The flashbacks to life before the island confuses me sometimes and it gets a little boring also, but I know it’s needed to add backstory and credibility to the characters situations on the island. Can you tell I am just giddy about this show? :)

  86. The fifth season will commence on January 21, 2009 with a three-hour premiere consisting of a clip-show and two back-to-back new episodes. The remainder of the season will air on Wednesdays. According to Lindelof, the season “is about why the people who have left the island need to get back”. Also, season five will feature significantly fewer flashbacks and flashforwards. From wiki.

    Can’t believe its another month but to be honest i’m starting to get irritated with the show now. The last episode just flew off the mental scale and with all the gaps i’m not confident this season will be as addictive as past seasons

  87. I hope they have taken the time in between to come up with things that make a little more sense. The whole island vanishing is a little hard to swallow, but if they EXPLAIN some of these things it would help me to continue on. I am looking forward to seeing the new season though.

  88. I was watching season 1 and 2 on the Sci-Fi channel every Monday night. They showed 4 back to back episodes and I got hooked. Then they took it off and I have had to READ on another web site EVERY single episode recap up to the present. My eyes are weak because I had to read it all almost at once. It’s like a novel you cannot put down!

    But I didn’t get the images in my mind well enough. I wilI be LOST on January 21 I suppose. I hope they do a recap first and I love the idea of 2 new back to back episodes all in one night. I can’t wait!

  89. I think my new favorite character is now Sawyer. He cracks me up with every word that he utters. In fact the whole show has a lot of comic relief and I love that. This is the most curious tv show I have ever seen and I have seen many since I will be 60 yrs. old in July! But the emotional attachments and humanity in it are so strong that character reigns over the wild and crazy schemes that are depicted. The actors are first-rate! And perfect for their rolls. It’s an amazing piece of work, really! And I thought Gene Roddenberry was a genius…..well, he is, but this is even better than Star Trek….(bite your tongue, Louise!) well, it is!

  90. Oops! Sci Fi channel is showing “LOST” again. Season 4 started last night with 4 episodes and will continue next Monday. I missed most of season 3 but read every single episode script! Not the same as seeing, but still intriguing. January 14, ABC will air the Season 4 Final episodes “There’s No Place Like Home” parts 1 & 2 again. Then Jan. 21 Season 5 starts. So I am ok! This is a good tv series. What can I say!!
