Dear Lost,
Tonight was the season 3 finale. I’ve been watching your show now for about 2 years. Every Wednesday that a new episode is on, I sit with anticipation that maybe..just maybe…something will be answered. Season 2’s finale was very good. It answered questions, it presented new ones, and left us hanging wanting more.
Season 3 was quite different though. Instead of things being answered, absolutely nothing was answered, unless you count charlie being an idiot an answer. I mean seriously if he had time to run to the door, close it, and lock it, you would think that he could have taken 2 more steps out of the room and THEN shut the door behind him. I know it was his time to die but at least make it believable.
Lost producers, we want answers to the questions you have presented, what we did not want was to know that everyone gets off the island. There is nothing I hate more is knowing an ending before the actual ending. This is just going to frustrate the viewers more. We know they get off the island so now the final 3 seasons are going to be filled with nonsense leading up to what we already know will happen - them getting off the island.
What you should answer are things such as ohhhh i dont know what the hell is jacob, why is he invisible and why does he need Locke’s help?. Or hey..maybe we could revisit who those people were in the arctic station and what exactly were they doing - maybe you dont remember, after all that was A YEAR AGO? Oh yea, theres a monster floating around made of smoke that can turn into people from the losties past. Maybe a little insight on what thats all about would be a good topic to cover. Should I go on because theres plenty more like what is the deal with the 4 toed statue, wheres Michael and Walt, why does Locke want to stay on the island, how did Lockes dad get on the island, WHAT HAPPEN WHEN DESMOND TURNED THE KEY.
WHY WHAT HOW? ANSWER SOMETHING.

YOU’RE the idiot. charlie couldn’t have locked the door if he went outside before closing it. can’t lock a thick metal door from the outside. IDIOT.
Although there was a lot of air in that compartment where Desmond was–definitely could have taken some time to put scuba gear on. I’m not quite sure Charlie made the wisest decision there.
The directors are hurting for ideas, and their story is full of logic holes. Jack is a drunkard in the future, and his dad is still alive? I’m sure that’s a detail that will be conveniently forgotten in the next two years, just like the black smoke, trees that explode out of the ground (oh, was that the polar bear?), and the four-toed statue.
But Kate is still hot, and you can count on HER staying on…
The season 3 finale (ending) was the single BEST and most UNEXPECTED moment episode of a tv show I have ever seen - ever.
You are a dumb piece of shit for complaining, remember that there are THREE MORE SEASONS left, and they aren’t going to answer every question in one fucking season, especially not at the end.

Jack dialed Kate’s number at the end of the show so she could meet him at the airport. Im pretty sure Kate’s telephone number was to the tune of “good vibrations” - the same as the code to stop blocking the transmissions. What’s the significance? I think Kate’s in on it!
Yeah, if you DVRed it, the locks were on the INSIDE of the door. Even though there was at least one set of scuba gear (the Russian’s), had Charlie just let the whole station flood, it would have been useless for future use.

I thought it was fantastic. I also think that people who post on here are quite angry at each other, there’s no need to call people idiots, thats teenager talk.
It would make a little sense if that last scene was in the past, because im sure kate is supposed to be a fugative and they would have got her as soon as they rescued them.
I don’t want to make assumptions, i trust the writers. Although i’m not too happy about waiting till January!
Oh yeah, and Charlie was going to die anyway, he just made the decision to complete Desmond’s vision.
With Lost, Heroes and Battlestar Galactaca gone for the whole summer i think i’m gonna have to get a job or something…..
If all of you could read..i didnt say he should go out and then lock the door. I said he should go out and SHUT the door. The door opened inward which means that the pressure from the water would keep the door shut, not open it. He then could have swam up from the hole he came in from. He already swam down, so its obvious he could make it back up. Its easier to swim up than down.
I also said i know it was his time to die. This is because of desmonds prediction. All i said was to make it believable.
on the comments about them saying they should answer everything in one episode or season. I didnt say that either. I was pointing out the fact that there is so much nonsense about this show and they never answer anything about them. They just keep feeding us more and more of it each week. Just pick one and answer it and then move on to the next one.
I’m with you Scott. Some people have a little too much emotionally invested in a television show.
Just some observations:
-The whole Walt scene was distracting because of how much the actor has aged. also - how did that kid get to be a worse actor in the past two years? That shit was painful.
-Why does everyone have to be so cryptic? If the reason behind Ben and locke not wanting Jack to call the boat is so important, then fucking spit it out. Locke finds it appropriate to kill Naomi, yet can’t take roughly 30 seconds to give Jack the cliff notes on why he shouldn’t call the boat? WTF? Ben can walk halfway across the island, threaten to murder the guys at the beach and then catch a beating, but he can’t give an articulate answer to a very simple question?
Also - i am well aware that Charlie thought it was his time to go, but the fact that he could have either: ran out the door and shut it, held his breathe and then tried to get out the portal or just let the water run into the station and slipped on an oxygen tank(he had plenty of time, that was a big station) makes it had to commit to any kind of suspension of disbelief.
Well first of all I believe that Jacob may be in control of the black coloud so that eliminates one of the ‘questions’ and locke wants to stay on the island because he can wak and because he believes it is his destany.
there are plenty more answers and I just don’t have time to explain them all so before you start complaining do a check-up to try to answer the ‘questions’ you have.
Here’s something to think about:
We DON’T know that “everyone gets off the island.” We only know that Jack and Kate get off the island AT SOME POINT. My gut feeling is that everybody (or at least most everybody) is still on the island when the flash forwards take place. Take a look at Jack’s apartment. Maps everywhere. He’s trying to get back. Why? Does he still need to save his people? Just because it’s a flash forward doesn’t mean it’s a flash forward to the END. Jack tells Kate he’s “sick of lying.” About what? I think it’s about the island. About where he and Kate were. About where the others still are.
Kilgore Trout, that could be a good prediction of yours. Who knows. But i really really feel bad for jack. First his wife left him for no reason, after all he had done for her. I dont think we ever got the answer for that. Now Kate in the future.
what really bothers me about the whole charlie thing is why did Mikhail go outside the station? I mean, why not just walk into the room where charlie was and kill him. It just seems dumb to get up from a spear to the chest, put on scuba gear, dive back in the ocean, swim to the other side, tap on the glass (and hope Charlie is there), and then blow themselves up. it’s just DUMB.
Yes, charlie allowed himself to die to fulfill desmond’s dream and to have Claire get off the island, but come on - I expect better writing out of them.
PS - it’s a f*cking show people. If you are getting upset over it and people giving their $.02 about it you have some issues to work on.
Maybe not everybody gets out of the island thats why Jack is drinking so much, he feels so guilty that he choose to get out alone with kate, Claire and baby, but maybe that is why he said, “we made a mistake, we have to go back” He is sure guilty for whatever he did. Now I don’t believe this “flashforward” will really happen, this was what i could happen if Jack made the call but it could all be different in the next 3 seasons. Maybe that man that answer the phone is Penelopes father and will only have Jack choose who can leave, who knows.
I have not thought too deeply on the whys and hows of this the Lost Series, instead I have sat back and loved the characters. I have wondered though could the so called survivors of this place crash indeed be dead and are now spending their time in puratory facing their sins of their past lives before the plane went down.
Is Jacob somehow a direct connection to God - Jacob was in fact loved by God and the father of the 12 tribes of Israel. The others are thoses perhaps that have accepted their fate and live in fear themselves from darker forces that wait to accept the souls due to enter hell.
It is only a theory and one that I am still wondering about.
One theme that connects all the characters is their “father issues”, each character having some sort of struggle with their father or father figure in their life. It will be interesting to see how this theme in the story line plays out. Perhaps it is Dr. Phil’s boat.
I have to say YOU’RE the idiot. I’m pretty sure it was obvious that the losties would be rescued from the island . And the finale exemplified it. Now the question is what happened inbetween the the time periods shown in the finale. the future story and island story. that’s what the true lost fan wants to know. I want all the loose ends resolved, and this new format they’ve discovered will explore all the loose ends of their past, present and future lives.
I don’t think Mikhail was trying to kill charlie..
he was trying to blow out that particular room’s window so that charlie and desmond couldnt mess with the radio transmission blocker.. but at the same time ensuring that he could get away.. (dun think the grenade killed him..)
he knew the machine was waterproof cos one of the girls had already told him earlier..
anyway, i think lost season 3 finale was amazing

Okay - Scott, if you were a REAL fan you wouldnt pick out these things. Thomas, you’re one of the people getting angry about the TV show…it is just a TV show but it is the most intelligent TV show that has ever been televised; and if anyone really thinks that the reunion between Jack and Kate at the end of the finale was in the PAST then you seriously are not a fan.
If you are looking for a theory here you go:
Remember that Desmond is the only person that has future flashes, he can potentially change the future. Now that Charlie has died, Desmond is the only person that knows that the boat is not Penelope’s and that Ben may have been telling the truth. Therefore Desmond is the only one that can change the fact that Naomi’s boat rescues everyone….follow?
To sum up, Desmond can determine whether or not Jack’s ‘flashforward’ really comes true…
For those of you who think that it’s just Jack and Kate that are off the island:
Jack mentions a “gold pass” or something similar to that… insinuating that he can get all the free flights he wants. This would lead one to believe that Oceanic gave them all free flights whenever they want as payment for this trip to hell.
If it was a big secret and it’s just Jack and Kate that got off the island I don’t think they would have been given free flights for life.

Also charlies locked himself in there beciase he was tod he had to die and when he saw the water rushing in he knew he had to die there and then, Oh and they showed you what happend when desmond turned the key you idiot, watch the program right and you would know and also there has been plenty of answers. Kilgore Trout I am with you on your comment. we do not know if all of them get off the island. Maybe it is only Jack and Ket. Mabey they had to leave all of the other characters and that is why Jack feels so guilty?

The 1st time i saw charlie locked the door to get himself killed, i was like ‘wtf’?(he could just have come out ‘n then close the door) but soon i realized he wanted to fulfill desmond’s vision for claire ‘n aaron, yeah thanks to desmond saying ‘THIS TIME YOU GOTTA DIE, CHARLIE or ELSE THE RESCUE WON’T BE COMING’, and there goes charlie, as an average intelligent human, did what he did…
He must have believed that he needed to ‘die’ to get the rescue coming rather than thinking logically ’stop the jamming, get the connection on then boom rescue coming’
I say Had he used his brain in a more logical manner, he would live.. But it’s how the story goes on..
Oh yeah, about they messing up with the time scale really pisses me off a bit.. Flash forward, flash back, damn it.. this getting a lil bit off hand..
I love Lost, and i loved the season finale.
The way i see it, we all have to just be patient. The creators said that from the beginning they knew how it would end, and sure there are a lot of unanswered questions, but i trust that they will all be answered in time. Because i dont think the creators would be stupid enough to create so many questions and then not answer them, they know how much people love the show and how everyone debates it, they know we wont just forget about them. Just be patient and enjoy the show guys! I do.
My personal theory is a bit shallow, but i think it could be right. I choose not to think of theories that include time travel, cos i think that just makes the show a bit ridiculous… so i dnt think thats anything to do with it.
I think sawyers in the casket, cos of the name on the obituary and cos nobody turned up for the funeral. I dont know why else lol..
And i still stand by the theory that somehow they were all handpicked to make this flight. I think they made out Jacks dad was dead when he actually wasnt dead at all to get him on the plane.
My evidence for this is–
a. Series 1, jack kept thinking he saw his dad, and when he finally found the coffin… it was empty! It must have been a trick to get him on the plane!!
b. remember the man that conned saywers parents AKA lockes dad? He said to sawyer something like… “i was driving down the highway and all of a sudden this car drives into the back of me and i wake up and im here”! he thinks its cos everyones dead, but i think its cos he got taken by some people and put on the island! The car crash was a cover up so that his family etc would think he was dead.

As far as who’s in the casket. I’m going to guess its someone we haven’t seen or met yet. Its a very short casket so I dont think its Sawyer or Michael. It could be Walt..MAYBE. I just have a feeling that its someone we havent met yet.
As for your comment in “a”..interestin point. I forgot they found an empty casket. Maybe he fell out, or maybe he was never in it. No way to tell right now except for the fact that Jack says to go get his dad in the flashforward. So Maybe he is alive.
Point “b” probably one of the better ideas that I’ve heard so far. The others obviously know everything about everyone on the island, and they still had the submarine at this point so they could have caused the accident and brought him there on the sub.
why would anyone think the flash-forward is a flash-back? yes Jack mentions his father, but he’s completely smashed at the time. he has maps all over the floor and tells kate that he flies east hoping the plane is going to crash because “we shouldn’t have left.”
also we have the admission of the writers themselves, and the fact that the funeral home in that scene is “Hoffs / Drawlar” — rearrange the letters and you get “Flash Forward”
ok ha this thread got a little twisted, goin back to the first comment, the anticipation is just too much for some so does anyone have any “valid” theories on, jacob?, the black smoke, why they were keeping polar bears, the huge statue, where the bodies go, ie jacks dad, oh the huge green bird?. so many questions sometimes i get more into theese little mysteries than the actuall storylines.oh and the failsafe? whoah magnets? aaaaaaaaaahhhhh sorry also , richard never ages? and mikeal cant die?
I could swear that Jack’s beard was dark brown in the last episode which makes me think it was a flash back and not forward. On the island his stubble was mostly white.
There is a clear example that Charlie did the right thing by allowing himsef to drown. He was not stupid for doing this and he did not believe too much in Desmonds visions. The visions apparently have to be followed exactly or else the end result will change. Look back at the vision where Desmond sees Penny come to the island as the parachuter. Well, the events of that vision where not followed exactly, Des did not allow Charlie to die with the arrow in throat, therefore the result of that flashback changed.The parachuter was not Penny it was Naomi. Charlie was smart to remember this. IF HE DIDNT FOLLOW THE VISION AND DROWN LIKE DESMOND SAID CLAIRE AND THE BABY WOULD NOT BE RESCUED. And Jack’s dad is dead. For one, when the lady at the pharmacy says we have to call ur father’s office to verify the perscription jack gets very upset and quickly says he is outta town. And also when he says go get his father from upstairs to the the new head of surgery look at the guys face, he looks at jack like hes crazy and jack even says dont look at me like that. Jacks obviously drunk and on way too much oxycodone to know whats going on.
its definitely a flash forward in my opinion but either way these writers are brilliant and if they answered everything in this season finale newcomers to the show would not stick around for the next 3 seasons. Be patient.
On the old testimony, it mentioned something about the antichrist so I think Jacob is the antichrist.
Few questions here w/ the inconsistencies of story lines on S3.
1. Ben asked Locke to kill his biological father Anthony Cooper as a ‘gesture’ to show the OTHERS in order to become one of them. Locke pointed a dagger on his dad’s neck but was unable to kill him because as he had said ‘he is not a murderer’. Instead, Locke fetched Sawyer and Sawyer killed Locke’s dad for him because of a rediculous coincidence that Locke’s dad Anthony Cooper aka Tom Sawyer is the same person who had sex w/ Sawyer’s mom which resulted into the murder of his mom and his dad’s suicide. At the last episode of S3, Locke killed Naomi with his dagger while she was trying to call the rescuers from her radio? Have’nt he said that he is not a murderer? He could’nt even kill his dad who conned him his kidney and pushed him from the 8th floor of a building that caused his paralysis.
2. At the end of S3, Kate met with Jack near an airport (obviously they were able to get out of the Island). Why is Kate free? She blew up her moms house to commit insurance fraud, killed her step dad, commited a bank robbery, etc., etc. She should be in jail serving a life sentence.
3. Jack had an argument with a doctor who was questioning him if he had a drink (a spoiler clip, obviously a future scene that had happened). He said to bring his father down and if his father is more drunk than he is then, the doctor can fire him. Isn’t his dad already dead since S1?
i think season 3 is the worst season.the story doesnt answer any of the mysteries presented in the first and second seasons.. and full of stupidity. all i can say to the writers that you suck,and go to hell,im not gonna watch the next season its just a waste of time.i bet that it will reach up to the nth season, minimum of 100 seasons probably and still, no questions will be answered..
