Eko Asked to Be Killed Off Lost
I can’t imagine asking to be killed off one of the most successful primetime dramas in recent history but that is what happened with Mr Eko, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje asked to be written off the series. After losing both parents last year, he wanted to return to his London home and work on a film he’ll direct.
Many people think Eko is just the latest casualty of the Hawaiian police department. Eko was just recently arrested for what seems to be common place on the Lost set, a DUI.
Elizabeth Mitchell, who plays Juliet, got to know him off the set. “We got along really well,” she says. “He’s about to direct his first movie about his life, which is an incredible story. He’ll be missed.”

Eko had so much more to give to the show. We didn’t did deep enough into his purpose in the show. His quick departure nullifies everything he has done in the show. He was the spiritual heart of the series and was the only connection between the island and god.
Not necessarily. Boone was killed off before he served any real purpose, and then came back in a vision to Locke to tell him what he needed to do.
I’m sorry. I just have to! Are you sure that you’re Scott? Cause I thought you were Steve!
Shame Mr Eko died - he is so damn sexy!!!
Interesting…I wonder where the show would have gone with him had he not been killed off. I did think that his death was kind of random…
What is said here is true. My uncle knows him personally and he is working on his movie. Apparently he is a very nice guy. Real shame though, I loved watching him.
Thank god Ecko was written out. He brought nothing to the show, he was just a big violent ass. He thought he was connecting with the island when he was just going crazy. He wont be missed.
Mr Ecko. is back.. hurley talks to him in the end of season 4.. when he’s playing chess.. he walks up and says check-mate then when asked who he’s playin with he answers..”Mr Ecko”..
mr eko was too cool and i wish he wasnt killed off! plus i was lookin forward to seeing him built the church.. i thought after becoming a priest he was brought to the island to protect everyone but i guess not..wat a shame!
mr eko (along with james and hurley) are the characters i liked in the show. having him rescued only to be killed off a short time later made little sense. his character could have been explored further and could have made a positive contribution to the show.
i suppose with his personal problems he needed to time off to grieve and to work on his side projects.
killing characters tend to be the easy way out for writers at a loose end. its so contrived doing so.
sorry about thr typos
