New Information about Rodrigo Santoro’s character
Recently, new information has been uncovered about Lost’s newest cast member Rodrigo Santoro. While no name has been revealed as of yet, some details have been revealed about his character.
In a quote from Santoro in a Brazillian newspaper, “They’ve told me that my role has nothing to do with the portuguese speaking characters, at the end of season 2 finale. But, for what I was told, I won’t be one of them. I’d be one of the survivors of the flight 815 that has been on the island all along. It will be a character with a story arc. They are thinking about making a character with brazilian origins, but I might speak english.” (Translation via Lost Media.)
The complete story can be found at this site, but it is all in portuguese. I used Babelfish to translate it, but it was still a little difficult to read.
So, this means that there are more survivors of Oceanic flight 815, and they have been on the island this whole time! What have they been doing? How many of them are there? Have they had contact with the Others as well? This detail opens up a whole new set of questions on an allready huge list to be answered in the upcoming Season 3 of Lost.
What are your thoughts on these new details that have been revealed?

There have been people on the island the whole time that have not been featured on the show. They are part of the original survivors that were shown in the pilot episode, just never featured or had any say. Isn’t it possible this could be his character?
