The filming and production of Lost Season 3 has begun today, August 7 in preparation for the season 3 premier on October 4th at 9pm eastern time.

ABC has also given a synopsis of what season 3 will be about and what the viewers can expect which is paraphrased below.

The opening show will be start out with Jack, Kate, and Sawyer being held captive by the Others, and the main questions to be answered in season 3 are exactly who the Others are and what they want.

Michael Emerson (Henry Gale) will now be a regular cast member appearing in most episodes as the leader of the Others. Also, a Love interest will develop for Jack with a mysterious woman. Sun & JIn will celebrate their pregnancy, but the underlying question with that is if the baby is truely Jins.

Locke and Sayid will join together along with a few of the other survivors in attempt at going and rescuing Jack Kate and Sawyer from the Others. Charlie will continue trying to win over Claire, but can he be trusted to stay clean and sober?

The fates of Eko, Locke, and Desmond in the aftermath of the implosion of the hatch will be answered. Also will Penny Widmore find the island and her long lost love, Desmond? Can the others find a way to communicate with the outside world?

All of these questions will be answered throughout the upcoming season 3 of Lost
