I was wondering why the decision was made to take Jack, Kate & Sawyer. Earlier this season, in the episode The Hunting Party, we witnessed the dont cross the line incident. During that confrontation Kate was a prisoner of The Others and the group tracking Michael (Locke, Jack & Sawyer) was surrounded. It was dark and Jack had just lighted the torches, thus making them easy prey for those nice stunguns. Locke could have filled the messenger role now given to Hurley. Jack, Kate & Sawyer have not been selected randomly from the passenger list, so we can assume The Others already had info on the three of them which makes it highly unlikely they were not recognized during the incident by any of The Others present there.

-> Was their presence needed for an experiment? (was the imprisonment of Henry Gale planned?)
-> Did Walt supply The Others with info which lead to Jack, Kate & Sawyer being selected?

Also:

What are your thoughts on the printed data which Locke and Eko gathered? After reading it Desmond concludes the system failure he caused has resulted in the plane crash. But what do we know about this data? It is a print of a logfile which The Others could have altered or just constructed to have the survivors draw conclusions from it The Others want them to. To me it looks like The Others are capable of controlling the magnetic field. And when you are able to steer-crash a plane on your island in a way which insures the survival of a large number of its pre-selected passengers I say you have some really nice gadgets which you want operated by professional technicians - not by labrats. By now it seems somewhat clear that the crash was there to get the selected passengers on the island, so just using the magnetic-field to break a plane in midair and then wait doesnt seem like a professional way to get them down safe. Pilots are well trained, but I doubt their training includes flying frontsections - also tailsections still dont have autopilots. It seems The Others can use the magnetic field to have some degree of control over large metalic objects like planes and boats, in order to get them down semi-safe or pull them from the open sea to the island. This would explain why Desmond fails to escape the island by ship, he is not allowed to leave and his ship is pulled back and directed to survivor-beach.

I think Henry and the others werent surprised b/c they are in on it all. They obviously know something is going on.

Her dad def. has something to do with it.

I think that magnet is almost like a forcefield over the island, like GI Joe’s had to protect their base excpet this one keeps it from being seen by the outside world.

based on the finale i worked it out we’re the experiment abc are simply seeing how long people will stay loyal to their show by screening a program which doesnt make sense.

- Sawyer escapes but is killed by Hurley.
- Penny’s father comes to find Penny.
- ‘The island’ is proven to be a socio/psychological experiment governed by Penny’s father.
- Jack returns with Kates body - Season ends.

The dog was given to Shannon, and Walt hasnt seen him since… he also doesn’t no that shes dead… for all I know. Also after what the others could have done to him I dont think that his dog is high priority.

also can someone please tell me what was up with charlie at the end of the finale. When charlie gets out of the hatch and sits down with claire he says that ‘nothing’ happened or something like that. How can he say that after the sky turned purple and there was that big niose, and wouldnt he want to help desmond, locke and eko who could be in trouble.

Its really weird, he seems relaxed and normall as though nothing has happened. wot is that all about?????

i am stuped as much asany one, i live in the uk an d/l season 2, i was reading a diffrent theory in which lost is based on the bermuda triangle mystery, could this be ture?

what i carnt understand is why have a fail safe if the button was presed ever 108 minuets. and what did happen as a result of not pressing it - theres somthing about locke i carnt get my head around.

7 seasons WOW thats a lot of lost. Thats a few years worth at least !!! I’m sure the writers will keep thinking up plenty of great things for the show.

The bermuda triangle theory is an interesting one but i dont believe it to be true. It seems too simple to explain all the phenomenons of lost.

Also, i dont think it will be anything that obvious or ‘cleche’ like the bermuda triangle, a dream or a parallel universe. I think they will come up with something completely new for the end of lost. Something that has never been thought of before. I cant wait and i hope it will be as good and imaginative as i am expecting it to be

Ok, well the fail safe was next to the source which is under ground and harder to get to quickly, so the computer was linked to it for easy usage. However it could have been thought that if the computer is destroyed and the electromagnetic charge can not be dispersed, then whilst the electromagnet is building up to explode or w/e it can be dispersed at a risk, but no one knows what will happen…

I don’t know if any of that made sense… but just a rambling, working theory

Hey aman… No, I don’t think so; the purpose of the fail safe key is to disperse the electromagnetic energy, once and for all. The reason why no one has tried this yet is because they do not know what will happen; it could have resulted in a giant explosion that could kill everyone on the island… We saw an example of this where Calvin was drunk saying that he could end it all now but even though he was drunk he couldn’t bring himself to turn the key.

Hey all i too am from the United Kingdom and we are by far the best Lost fans. I think all the theories are great on this site and i have a few of my own to pitch to you.
What if the Dharma initiative was experiments on the island testing explosives or weapons that could win them World War 2, and in doing so created an unstable landscape that has to be vented every 108 minutes or there abouts. The radiation left by the experiments may be the cause of the miraculous curing of Locke’s legs and Rose’s terminal illness and other strange goings on.

do you really believe what that guy was saying about hurley killing sawyer?! he was just messing with us! according to him, we would know what the island is all about next season… if that were true, there couldn’t be any more seasons!the show would be over! even if he had a friend in the filming crew, i don’t think they would be telling what’s happening on season 3. by the way… i’m portuguese, and everyone here in portugal LOVES lost! and we don’t want sawyer to die! he’s the best!! beijinhos**

I agree with box man and sara on this one, the information that guy gave us bout season 3 cannot be true. The producers would not give out that kind of information to anyone. Only they know what will happen in the seasons to come. Everyone involved with the making of lost would be too loyal to ruin the show by revealing information yet to be aired.

And anyway, i dont think they will kill sawyer in season 3, i hope they dont kill him at all. But if he does have to die im sure it will not be by hurly. Im sure that if sawyer does go it will be really dramatic and a ‘cool’ death, if there is such a thing.

The guy that sent that message about season 3 was probably just trying to stir us up.

Once again im with box man, comero’s theory about world war 2 is a really new and interesting. however, although there isnt really anything solid to prove that it is wrong it just doesnt seem right. But i could very easily be wrong, i havnt heard any other better ideas so im still open to it.

I think the combined theory of the world war two testing site and Pen’s father being involved in the dharma initiative is the most convincing theory yet and is the one that i think is most likely so far.

Nothing will happen because (a) the computer is broken and (b) I believe that, that was just used as a scare tactic to stop them from finding out the truth or jeopardizing the project an tests by getting in contact with the outside world the other test subjects.

Just checked out that episode, for anyone that wants to know, its episode 20, about 16 mins in. I know what you mean; the woman has the same accent as Clair n similar looks. However the way the woman is protecting the child it’s as if she would be a lot younger instead of a pregnant 20 something girl. So normally i would just say a coincidence … but this is lost!!!

Also in that episode Jacks dad says ‘Maybe fate has thrown us together, so we can help each other, you do need help don’t you?’ I think that is a good

Jack’s dad wasnt in the coffin because he had the mafia or something after him and the only way out was to seem like he was dead.

I found that very weird.

Yer i think the fake hatch thing that was actually just a pair of doors was simply just a diversion. They were obviously guarding it like that to make people (like micheal) think there was actually something there. And their trick worked, when Sayid got there he was expecting to find something or someone. What he got was rock !!! So it was probably there to fool people into thinking they had somehting there to guard, that is why they only ever had two people guarding it. They probably have more people guarding their actual hatch and the actual place they live.

Another possibilty is that it was a double bluff, and that the rock face behind the hatch doors was actually a hidden door, and when pushed, the rock face would open. However i am more inclined to believe the first theory as it sounds more ‘lost like’.

The fact that they need a diversion leads me to believe that there is obviously somehthing else somewhere on the island that thay really are trying to guard, perhaps another hatch maybe ??

I would like to find out what happened to Cindy the flight attendant who came over with Libby and co.

I hope we see her in Season 3. It would make sense for Sawyer to recognise her or maybe Jin as they both met her.

The theory of Penny’s dad running the island is an excellent one, it makes sense that he sent Desmond there to be rid of him, and Penny knows just enough about it to understand that she needed to send out some guys to monitor an area for abnormal electro-magnetic activity.

Mind you it doesn’t really explain why the plane just happened to be full of a bunch of people with "hidden pasts" that are all somehow inter-connected…that suggests some kind of other-worldly karma thing going on, as opposed to an "explainable" social experiment…

Did any of you read a quasi-scientific book by a Graham Hancock ("Fingerpring of the Gods")which sums up a theory of how an earlier civilization vanished because of polar-shifting covering their world in ice (another Atlantis theory). This would explain the 4-toe statue remnants among other things.

The idea came from some guy who left a comment on the 31/5/06 saying that he had spoken to one of the filing crew and that he told him that, and I quote, Sawyer escapes but is killed by Hurley. I personally thing this is completely fake and load of rubbish. No one in the crew would reveal such info and Im sure they wouldnt kill of sawyer. Hes too cool to be killed yet.

I know what you mean, how can they explain everything, with each passing episode there only seems to be more things left unanswered. It does seem that they have dug themselves into a really deep pit but Im sure that season 3 will reveal some new stuff to us.

have you any more ideas why Charlie was acting so calm after his experience in the hatch in the season finale? Claire asked him wot happened and he said nothing. Shouldnt he be trying to help locke, des and eko?? (I asked u already some time ago and u said u would think on it or something)

One last thing, why do you think the others seem to be after children (Claires baby, Walt and the two children from the tail end of the plane) rather than adults. Untill the end of season 2 when they take three adults, jack, kate and sawyer. I think maybe they took the children to experiment on and those three adults because they were their biggest threat, wot do u think?

i agree with everything u said, lol. So if they do let walt live because hes ’special’ to them. Presumably he will escape, but where to?? Will he just land safely on the other side of the island or will he actually get back to where he lives? and if he does, do u reckon micheal will try to rescue the ‘lost’ people. I dont think he will cos of wot henry said on the docks. But i cant see how micheal and walt will just dissappear and then never be in ‘lost’ again. Wots ur thoughts on that??

Also, this is really random, but do u remember that episode where jin and eko are trying to find micheal? and they have to hide in a bush as the ‘others’ walk past. Well the last two to walk past look like children, and the one at the back is dragging a tedi bear along the ground. Do you think those two children are the ones from the ‘tail end’ of the plane?? I seem to remember the boy hugging a tedi bear when annalucia is trying to revive his sister after the crash. just a thought but i think they are thise two kids, it fits so well.

Also, Shannon kept on seeing walt in the jungle saying some wierd stuff in a really weird hushed voice. Then just Before shannon was killed by annalucia, sayid also saw walt. Wot do think that was all about?? i rle dont understand. Do u think that it was the island making them see walt (even though he wasnt actually there) so that shannon would die because the island knew that annalucia would shoot her?????

good thinking with walt being able to project himself to other places, that explains how shannon saw him in the jungle when he was captured by the others and that theory really works well. however it doesnt rle explain walts weird behaviour (him putting his finger to his mouth and saying ’shhhh’ to shannon. and him speaking in that weeird voice) and if he could make him self appear in different places, why di
