Desmond and the Key Season 2 Finale

When desmond used the key to cutoff the “dam” of electromagnetic energy or whatever, a great light and noise was produced. we saw that the others and henry saw/heard it while holding kate, sawyer, and jack. however, after it ended, they went back to business as usual, as henry gave michael the instructions.

but if that key was so important, wouldn’t henry or some of the others been shocked that it got turned and made a bigger deal about it? in theory, that key being turned changes everything about the island and its powers. but henry and the others just went back to normal after the light/noise went away.

what’s the deal?? any theories?

The electro-magnetic field was pulling objects… and there was no evidence of an explosion on the island when the key was turned (other than say the white light)… so why did a (the?) quarantined hatch door fall from the sky?

Also, assuming the hatch door was metal. It would have been pulled down towards the magnetic source..not thrown half way across the island to the beach.

In the finale wrap-up podcast, Damon heavily hinted that Desmond was alive. I suppose he could have more chance of surviving since hes safe underground, or you could look at it another way and say he’s the most likely to be dead because he was closest.

We will only really know when we find out what turning the key actually did…

I think the turning of the key is the turning off of the electromagnetic shield that "hides" the island from others, and makes it impossible to navigate to. The flashing light and the noise was the shield dying.

oh, and the reason the door fell from the sky is firstly it was being pulled towards the ground by the electromagnetic field, then when the key was turned, all metal objects were "freed" and because of the forces involved the hatch was flung up into the sky. Kinda like a coiled spring effect. (the sort of way that railguns work by using charge to fire objects a long way)

also when desmond was rescued from on the beach after he was washed up on it i remember seeing more than one person in a yellow suit yet we only ever saw one of them in the hatch wiht him. where did the other people in yellow suits go???

also, where did desmond get all his alcohol from, he seems to have an unlimited amount, he was drinkin in his bout for a few weeks then all day and night on the beach and he NEVER ran out!!!
