Anon’s Season 2 Lost Theory
[
Just my theories to the end of season 2:
At the end of season 2, we see the the two guys in the polar station measuring something with their equipment. They directly inform Desmonds former girlfriend who said before 'with money you can find everyone'. So it is clear to me that the job of the two people in the polar station was to find Desmond. The question is how.
I dont think that they were looking for someone turning the key on the island causing the bright light we saw. This would mean, that they knew, where Desmond was and what mechanism is on the island. This would mean that it is a big conspiracy and Penelope is part of it. If she knows everything, why didn t she just rescue him? So its rather unlikely that the two scientist see the 'explosion' on there system.
But, what could Peneleope (or the people she pays) have done to track Desmond? Someone might have put a small transmitter in his boat. When the boat was on the island that was covered by some 'magnetic shield', the signal of the transmitter could not be received by any receiver outside. So she may have paid peaple to build up stations all around the world searching for that signal. When Desmond turned the key, the 'magnetic shield' disappeared and the signal could be seen on the screen of the two guys in the antarctic station (which is propably the next station to the island).
And about the 'good' and the 'bad': Dont take to seriously, what the others, especially Henry, say. As we know, he is very good and lying and playing a role. I am pretty sure, everything we see of them is fake (clothes, false beards, the boat). Even if he did not lie, it may only be his personal few. For example a terrorist may also say: we are the good ones.
Another thing that is very clear now to me is, that Henry is the leader of the others. It was clear when Michael released him in the hatch by just seeing in his face or when he talked about the leader of the others (He is a big man). He is arrogant and big-headed and that might help in season 3 to fight him.
Just my thoughts ... [anon guest poster]

everyone thinks what they are doing is good and right. henry thinks he and his group are good.+ henry isn’t the leader, he is just a puppet. most of the others think he is the leader but he is not the top man
if you remember Penelopes father is a very wealthy businessman and was trying to pay off Desmond to stay away from her. The boat race Desmond enters (organised by Penelopes Fathers company) to win money from him is fake. I believe it was a ploy by Penelopes father to get rid of Desmond for good, by having him end up on the Island. How would he know about the island? Its because his corporation is a partner of Dharma and is in charge of the experiments on the island. Penelope finds out about her father getting rid of Desmond and investigates further and discovers details about the companys activities on the island. This i think is the only valid way she would know to look for abnormal magnetic displacement as a means to find Desmond as this is the basis of activity on the island.
Also i believe the polar location is very significant because we are dealing with magnetic abnormalities and where better to monitor activity than there? I have not fully got my brain round this yet in as much as hows and whys but is it possible that the Island is contained in some kind of Bio-dome? as on the cover of Hurleys comic and when desmond returns to the island on his boat after sailing for weeks he says that there is no escape and that it was like sailing around in a snow-globe!!!
i think lost is like a survuval game and every one ia a pupet and therer gona die 1 by 1
i also think that jacks dad is on the island and he is the one who is incharge of the others and this is all payback for geting him fired from his job as a doctor. Also i love big butts
My thoughts on the guys looking for Desmond are these:
#1. He had to enterthe race, which he did AFTER he was given the boat.
#2. Penny could have had someone plant a tracking device on the boat and paid two blokes to live in that hellishly cold place keeping an eye on him.
#3. He dissappeared, due to the magnetics of the island.
#4. When the button wasn’t pushed, the boat showed up, and when the key was turned it showed up again, long enough to get a fix on it.
Desmond entered the race because he said he wanted to win back his honour. What better what to do it than to enter a race associated to Charles Widmore?
Widmore may or may not have engineered his entering of the race but he certainly engineered him getting a boat (via Libby) and getting shipwrecked on the island.
The Portuguese guys at the South Pole(?) seemed concerned that they may have missed ‘it’ again. It’s not clear whether the magnetic anomaly they missed 1st time was what caused the aeroplane to crash because that apparently was when Desmond was late entering the numbers. Only that time the failsafe wasn’t triggered. The 2nd time the Portuguese guys noticed the anomaly was when the failsafe was triggered.
